Catshooter were you thinking this topic was about hornady bullets?

NO... I was thinking it was about "Anyone shooting 87gr VLD in their 243"

That could be any 87gr VLD.
How many different "brands" of 87 grain VLD 243 are there?

I am just giving you a hard time.

85g Speer Spbt has a BC of .401, and is a deer bullet. It is much tougher than the V max. Quartering shots coming to you and going away from you where the bullet has to do some extreme penetrating will be where the V max fails. Can you imagine seeing a large facing you at a slight quartering angle where the bullet will have to break a front shoulder to get to the heart lung area?

Hornady also makes a 87g Sp, JFYI.

The 90g Nosler Accbond may be a bullet worth your consideration.

I have never seen any, but I know that Hornady did make a 87g INterbond bullet.
