Really sucks when you have a knife 90% done and you ruin it! Here is one I did a while back. Stag is an imperfect material and kind of tricky to match up just right as far as looks and symmetry go. I had very little mulie antler to work with when I made these scales. Because the scales are rounded, my one pin hole ended up a little bit off. I believe I did not re-ream the hole out after I glued the last scale on, and it cost me big time. Think I had some glue still hardened up in the hole. I panicked and forced the pin through so the glue would not set on me. When I turned it over, I had taken a nice chunk out of the stag

The chunk is deeper than it appears in the pic:

It had cool blue liners, but had to go with black after I tore the whole damm knife back apart, recut the stag, and made new rosewood bolsters(old ones were ironwood). Here it is now. I already have
Already managed to scratch it up a bit, and I never even did finish buffing it. Truth is, for a hunting knife, I don't like it. Cuts a mean steak though......

That would be nice. For dressing game the handle profile is thinner than I prefer. The scales are thick enough, but not wide enough for my hand......

Thanks. It ain't great, but it ain't horrible. Yes doing it twice sucked. I may actually like the looks better now.......

It had thinner blue liners on it before which I kinda liked, but the larger rosewood bolsters seem to contrast the stag a bit better than the smaller ironwood ones did. And you can see the angled and rounded "flat" on the bolsters where they meet the hilt better now. Hard to tell in pics. They match up very nicely......
