I have got a new 1-9 twist barrel on my 243 and after about 60 rounds I`m not getting the grouping that I am satisfied with, using the 70 gr ballistic tips,I`m gonna move up to a 75 gr and see how that performs, what would be the heaviest bullet I could use in the 1-9 twist? RCM

I don't know - maybe someone else can add to this. 105s are the heaviest I have shot.

115gr takes at least an -8 twist.

105,s to 107,s is the tops for a -9 twist in a standard .243 win. IME.

Interesting I haven't looked much into the 6mm bore's past 243 hunting bullets, Although a 6mmAI sure looks and sounds fun.

My 9 1/4 twist M7 has digested everything I have feed it.

58 gr VMax to 100 Gr Sierras. All, that i tried, were worked into Sub-MOA.

I have pushed sierra 107 SMK's in a 9 1/4 twist from 100 out to 1000yds have't seen any "key-holes". 26" barrel running a little over 3000fps.

Don't just assume it's bullet weight. It could just mean your barrel doesn't like the ballistic tip or whatever powder you've tried.
