I am looking for some info on what people are having the best luck with in their 6.8 SPC spec II's. Best powder and bullet mainly. I did a search it and comes back with nothing. So I skimmed the first 90 pages of the reloading forum and only found about 3 posts about 6.8 load info. Nastynatefish has one of the best so far. Please don't post a link to 68forum's I have been on there reading everything I can find for the last three days. There are alot of good opinions over there but honestly if I can't get a 6.8 to shoot any better then most of those guys I probably won't keep it long... Lay it on me!

MPFD, I've have good luck with the AA2200 with most bullets I tried. That being said I have only tried the 115 sierra ph, 100 hornady sp and I just got some of the 90 sierra's. I had tried some exterminator but got better groups with the 2200. I just got the 90's and loaded 5 up with 30 gr and a col of 2.90 and shot a 5 shot group under a inch. The gun i shoot is one of Scott's uppers. I settled in with 28 gr with the Hornady 100's and a col of 2.90. I can't remember on the 115's I'll check when I get home.

I have read that and I'm in the process of trying to locate some. I'm gonna do some loading tonight right now on hand I have H322(gonna try it for sure), H335, Benchmark, AA2015, 3031...

i use 2230 and 2015and RL10 w/sierra 110-115 get 3/4 @ 100 could probably get a little better with a different trigger just got mil-spec and its heavy and drags,

Very good thank you! Keep it coming guys, as many people jump on the 6.8 vs. Grendel threads on here there has to be more 6.8 owners then this...

RL-10x for 110 gr. VMax, and 90 gr. Sierra HP loads. I tried
RL-10x for some Barnes 95 gr. TTSX loads, but the velocity
was lower than I expected. I have some RL-7 loads done and
waiting for some time on the range. Also the disappointing
velocities were in a RRA 6.8 SPC upper. I have a new 6.8 SPC
upper built, with an AR Performance barrel(6.8 ARP chamber and
hybrid 5R rifling 11.25 twist), sitting on a Armalite NM lower.
I am hoping to get to 2800 fps with the 95 gr. Barnes.

I am not sure why you have an issue with 6.8forums, but they
have the best load data there is for the 6.8 SPC.

I'm just not impressed. To many threads about shooting bullets I would never use. Seems if I find something impressive I get to the bottom of their reply to find they are shooting groups @ 50 yards, or they admit their guns shoots 3 moa at a hundred, but they are working up loads with an eotech. I pride myself on making a rifle shoot small groups @ 100, not shooting man sized targets at 50 and killing zombies...

Ok I'll take some of that back I have found some decent threads on there today. Which loads are good for both? Will the Saami loads work in the spec II or is it vice versa?

I have some loaded rounds left from mine with some ssa brass. If your interested let me know. Just pay the shipping I might have 50 total of the 27gr H322 and 115 sierras

I use Exterminator and reloader 10X for the 110gr sierra pro hunter and the 95gr Barnes TTSX. You should be able to hit 2800 with the 95 gr barnes without too much trouble. As to your question, you can use saami loads in your spec II but not the other way around.

Mine is a 16" 10 twist and these are its favorite:

90 TNT 28.5 viht n133

110 sierra pro hunter 27.8 benchmark

115 Nosler hpbt 25.5 viht n133

100 Hornady sp 27.8 AA2230

out of the extensive and exhausting testing, these loads show extreme promise. I know a couple other guys who tried the 90 tnt load and the 115 hpbt and they also shot very good in their rifles.

H-322 give me the best groups but not the most vel.
My 6.8 has a Pacnor barrel and a jewell trigger and will shoot most loads under 1" the best loads into one hole @ 100yrds.
H-322 R10 and a-2220 are only powders I run.

Wilson Combat Stainless 16" 6.8 SPC II barrel
This is my hunting rifle
Optic- Leupold 2-7x33mm duplex crosshair

120gr Hornady SST's - Deer / Hog Load
loaded to 2.295" OAL
H4198 24gr = 2470fps - 2500fps
Win Large Primers
Rem Brass
Groups 1/2" at 100yds

Loaded in Hornady brass
CCI 41 primer
H4198 24gr
Gave the same Point of Impact which was intersting
Under 1/2" - a little tighter group
Didn't chrono it for velocity

H4198 gave a lot of gas pressure so I use a heavy spring with a standard buffer and bolt function / lockup / consistency is solid.
A standard buffer spring was too light in function for the amount of gas pressure I encountered.

YMMV

Been hand loading for my 6.8 SPCII now for four years. I only load for 90 grain Sierra's and 90 Speer TNT's. I started using H-322, but wasn't getting enough velocity. Tried H-335 which was better, great accuracy, fair velocity, then settled on RL-7. My current load is 28.2 grains of RL-7 in SSA cases. Gives me 2780 FPS and I get 3/4 inch groups. I've recently picked up a couple pounds of AA 2200 and hope to pick up more velocity with it, while maintaining accuracy, and no pressure signs.
I am very conservative with powder charges and don't push velocity much. With an inch high at 100 yards zero, my 6.8 does very well on coyotes out to 250 yards where it's just hold on and shoot. Trajectory becomes a bit more uncertain beyond that, so I am always looking for more velocity with no pressure issues. I am confident I could push my RL-7 loads another 50 or 75 FPS without much issue, but just haven't worked it up yet.
I found the 6.8 SPC while looking for an AR cartridge that offered the energy of my .243 Winchester bolt rifles. The 6.8 SPC II has not disappointed me at all, and is my favorite calling rifle under most conditions. If I'm hunting where I'll have a chance at shots over 250 yards, I'll just carry along my .243 or .22-250.

I decided on H322 with 110 grain Vmax and I'm getting .5 MOA with about 2550+ fps from my 16" barrel.

wow this thread is up again...

I found a great berger 130 hunting vld load, will post powder and charge later as I am drawing a blank right now.

Awesome on javelina this past year.

Try SSA brass, CCI 41 primer, 26- 27.5 grains of AA2200 with a COL 2.295 (check length for fit in mag) should also get you the same results with 110VMax and 120 SST
