6mm DTI or 25 DTI

The only reason I went with a .25 DTI over the 6MM DTI was the 6MM needs about 22 inchs of BBL, the 25DTI can get up to 100% powder burn in an 18" BBL. Otherwise I would have gone with a 6mm.

+1 on the above!

I don't have mine yet like Greg and Ricky, but I went with a 25 because that 18" barrel is a beautiful thing. If I didn't care about barrel length I too would have ordered the 6mm.

I'm thinking of getting a new upper myself. Was looking at 243 wssm. What is the aprox. FPS on a 25 ? Also is that a reload only round ? Haven't seen any listed. Thanks for the feedback.

I received a 6mm DTI this summer and I ordered another 6mm DTI and a 25 DTI this past fall.

As others mentioned, the barrel length is one advantage the 25 has.

However, it also depends on what you want to do. My second 6mmDTI will have a 12 twist so I can shoot the lighter bullets, the 58Vmax or 55 BK for instance.

So when I'm done my plans are as follows

Current 6mm DTI LOVES the 70 BK
6mmDTI 12 twist on order I plan on the 55-58 gr bullets
25 DTI I hope to be able to shoot 90 HP

This way my son and I can have the bases covered for our predator hunting needs

Here is my 6mmDTI with 10 twist

It was all about the balance of power and effeciency in a 18" barrel that made me go with the 25. I personally prefer AR's with 16 or 18" barrels if I have to carry them. It was either going to be the 6.8 or 25DTI. I went with the 25 and haven't been dissapointed.

All the DTI's are reload only. The load data from Dtech shows you can get almost 3270 max with a Sierra 75 gr hp out of the 18 " barrel. The 75 gr vmax is a bit slower.

I called Dtech to order a 243 wssm and Mike talked me into the 25 DTI. My understanding is that all the wssm's are a bit tricky to load for, the DTI's are very forgiving.

There is also the 6.5 DTI to consider!..There are a couple around but have not heard the load details!

I knew that I would not be shooting any heavier than 80gr Bullets so I opted for the 1/12 twist on my 6mmDTi. I have really enjoyed mine. I have been pleasantly surprised at several things about it. Recoil was less than I expected and the velocity surpassed my expectation along with the fact brass quality/life has been great.
Just recently I was shooting with a friend who had a new .243 with some factory 75gr ammo and we chronographed it and velocity was only slightly better than my 6mmDTi and he had 2 inches more barrel length. While I realize that you can get more speed from a .243 it is nice to be able to come close with a lot less powder and recoil.
I can see the same opportunity with the 25Dti which may be even better performing from what I have read from others.
