222 Remington Target Load?

Entering an "egg shoot" in mid June looking for a good accurate target load. Will be shooting eggs at 200 yards. I am entering the contest with a Remington 700 in 222 rem. Heavy varmint barrel, with a muzzle break. (don't ask about the muzzle break, bought the gun used.)

Try Sierra 52 Gr Matchkings for bullets.

Don't have the loading data for the triple deuce I had many a year ago.It was one [beeep] of a shooter. Should have kept it as I had to go through a couple of 22-250's to get one that shot as well as my old triple deuce did.

Good luck in your endeavor to find a good load. .

+1 on the 52gr. mkbt

Try IMR4198 or Hodgdon H322 or TAC

The deuce will shoot alot of loads very accurately.

That rig oughta be a hoot to shoot, with that muzzlebreak you should be able to watch those eggs explode.

Try either the Sierra 52 HPBT or 53 HP Matchkings. Your rifle may like the flatbase 53 gr better.

Powders like IMR4198, H4198, H322 or BL-C2 have always worked good for me.

I just picked up some Sierra 52 HPBT, and some Berger Match HPFB in 52 grn also, we will see what groups better, will look into the 53grn.

i use lapua brass for two and norma brass for the other. I4198 and 52 or 53 match . 205gm primer or rem 7.5. second choice for powder would be h-322 and the h-4198.

I've gone with 40 V-MAX's now in my .222 rem. 21.0 of IMR-4198 at just book COL, 2.130 or whatever it is, and lit by a CCI 400 small rifle primer. The primer is the key to this load. Start lower and work up. I've seen some guys getting as high as 21.5 with this combination, but I didn't need to go beyond 21.0 even. Accurate as heck, flat shooter running at about 3,300 fps out of my old Rem 700 BDL's 24" barrel, with fantastic terminal results in the field too!
