winty, I suppose the best answer would be a fawn in distress call. However, cougars have been called by turkey, elk and deer hunters. A friend of mine called one several years back with a grunt tube during archery deer season.
I feel the set-up is more important than the call or sound. Getting the source of the calling sound away from you and setting up where you have good visability of all possible approach routes to the call are the most important factors to consider.
