If you could have just one high end rifle, what cartridge?

Today i would have a 6.5x55 1-8" twist 22" ultra light rifle built. I have a new VXIII 3.5x10x50 matte for it. 120gr ballistic tips at 2900fps 130gr barnes at 2800fps.

I'm with the majority here 243 or 25-06. Looking at my rifles in that range of calibers there is
3 in 243
1 in 243 AI
1 in 240 wby
1 in 25-06
I love them all and with the right bullet would not be afraid to use them on game to the size of elk but I have better rifles for that.

I would prob go with a 257AI or a 25-284. I have a 25-284 in an Encore from a Douglass blank and it is amazingly accurate and easy to load for.

My Browning A-bolt Hunter in .243,wood stock with Leupold Rifleman scope in matte-black.

Taken everything from Coyotes to Deer with it,great accurate Rifle with some good knock-down power!

243 would probably fit your needs well, however I am currently playing with a 6.5 X 47 Lapua and it is showing incredible performance. 6-284 is always my go to gun and has been for years everything from elk to prarie dogs.

I think I am leaning toward either a 243, 260 or 6.5 creedmoor. I have been reading a lot about the 6XC and the 6.5 super LR and they look like good alternatives for something different, but I think I will wait until I rebarrel another rifle to try them.

6MM AI..........I just got one custom made. King of the varming cartridges and has enough pop with 105 Berger bullets to take an elk. .243 is a good one, but if you can only have one the 6MM AI has more ooouuuummmmphh.
