Free Float a Magpul MOE hand guard?

Has anyone done it, tried it, failed at it? I am wanting to build a lightweight and cheap rifle for my daughter, she is wanting to go calling with me and her grandpa.

I am not exactly sure how to go about doing that. The front cap has to be in place to hold the 2 pieces together, and then the gas block holds the cap in place.

To make it work without the hand guard touching the gas block seems difficult, but I am sure a creative mind could come up with something.

Use a service rifle float tube. They are designed to float a barrel while using standard two piece handgunads. I would assume the moe would work great as well. White Oak Armament has them. There is a great write up here as well: http://www.compasslake.com/float_tube.htm Use a good one! They are kind of spendy but will hold up to heavy operator use!

I saw the Young's tube, anyone know the weight? I don't have a problem with it, but I would bet the Midwest SS tube may be lighter.
