buds gun shop....what a joke

I ordered my pistol on there saturday morning. Figured id save about $30 once you figure in tax vs ffl fees from buying it local and my 3 day wait would be during the shipping time.

Bud's said in stock and in their retail location for the pistol. Again I understand they more than likely don't work on packing/ shipping pistols on the weekends but as of 5 minutes ago my order was still in processing.

Ive read a lot about buds having fast shipping in the gun reviews on their website not sure why I am not so lucky.

I called up and basically was told, sorry were busy. They would have to be shipping a huge number of guns daily to have over 4 business days and 6 calendar days for processing.

I am even more irritated that I used a card to speed up the process and paid the extra 3% because using the card did not rush anything along I could have paid with an E check and waited the week and saved myself some coin.

Buy from your local dealer. It's worth a few extra bucks for the customer service and to keep a gun shop in business in your town.

I have ordered a few things from Bud's over the last few years. And they have had some good prices on some items. And I have done well with what I have bought from them. But if you are in a hurry. Or you are looking for courteous service then you best look somewhere else. You will not find it there. They market by price alone. Just like Whittaker's markets on having the product. Whittaker's would not send me a picture of a Cooper. And When Bud's sent me the picture of a rifle. I was ordering a left hand bolt action, and they sent me a picture of a left hand bolt action. But the rifle when shipped had a right hand bolt action. And was never ever made with a left hand bolt(Knight LRH). So I have no idea where Bud's ever got the picture from(left hand photo). Tom.

If it's anything like the dealers around here, you'll save more than "a few" dollars buying online. Buds was a little slow shipping mine, too. Their website says that they have the guns that move the fastest closer to the shipping dept. Did you try the online chat? i had good service through that.

Bigger companies have better prices.
Smaller companies have better service.

Figure out which is more important on each purchase, and order accordingly, but don't expect personal service from a company that sells thousands of guns every day at a relatively small profit margin.

If you want personal service, go local and take your wallet.
If you want bare-bones cheap, get in line.

I completely agree with the reasoning here... Unfortunately, that hasnt been my experience with the few "small" places ive been to around here... They have been some HUGE [beeep]... very rude... i'll buy 10 guns online before they see a single $ from me!

Awesome point. Around here gun dealers are harder to find than Obamas spine

I reckon I am fortunate to live near a local dealer that hates Bud's. They will meet or beat any deal that Bud's offers. The owner says he will not let Bud's eat his lunch. My dealer makes his money from folks who don't shop so it's no biggie to him to not make a killing from a few guns.
Bud's will blow away most every other gun dealer in my area though.

Lucky for me buds in only and hour and a half away. But by the time I figure in gas and sales tax it's usually very close to what my local dealer is asking

blopez, my statement was just a generality.
I wish I could drive 2 miles down the road and spend every single penny I spend on guns and ammo with a local dealer, but it ain't gonna happen.

I understand brotha! The local gun shop discussion just always gets me on my soapbox...

My son bought a new Benelli Vinci from Bud's and saved a couple hundred dollars. He had good service and a quick delivery - no complaints.

I would love to buy more guns locally but they are to high and if they have to order it, it's even higher. As far as customer serve it has been my experience they are very poor. If you have a problem with a gun they tell the same thing as the on-line dealers ship it back to the factory. I have one local shop that's pretty good most of the time. However, the last time I was in their shop I was looking for a Kahr CM9,to replace the piece of junk j-frame they sold me. The guy tried to sale me a Solo which was heavier and more expensive. He tried to tell me the trigger was lousy on the CM9. I answered I've fired the PM9 and it had a great trigger and the CM9 has the same trigger. He advised me I was wrong, anyway got it on-line and after shipping and FFL I saved $70. What amazes me about local shops is their total lack of salesmanship.

I also had frustrations with Buds this week. I ordered a Bretta Neos on Sept 2, at about 10:30 am. I went to Baltimore for the week after. When I got home I figured it would be there at my FFL on Monday (Sept 12), it never showed. SO i called Tuesday, (this has been 6 business days) it still hasn't shipped, but should ship Weds... I asked why it took so long and I was told Pistols take longer. Why would that be it should be easier to ship, because of its size alone! It's not like they were doing any ATF paperwork on me. I cancelled my order. Waiting on a gun to be built is one thing, but waiting on them to ship a gun in stock for 6 days is another.

Yeah 10 calendar days without shipment is crap. Hopefully they start losing business and realize they need to hire a few more people.

I ordered the red dot sight for it from Midway 10 minutes after the gun and it was at the shop by noon on Tuesday the 6th. Thats pretty good considering Monday was labor day.

Well, I know I'm lucky, it's about 6 miles of nice country roads, but that's the drive to the small gun dealer in Newville, PA, who pretty much specialises in hunting rifles - new and used, where I buy almost everything. It's a bit over an hour's drive in the other direction to Cabela's in Hamberg, PA, but other than some special sales, they aren't less expensive than my local dealer.

I've gotten really good deals on used Leupold scopes, new and used rifles, and 3 handguns there. Knowledgable, low key, pleasant, with a a significant inventory to choose from - and if they don't have it, and you want it, they "will" get it for you.

I've also had good luck with my one and only GunBroker purchase which the same local dealer cheerfully took shipment on, admired the rifle which he couldn't have gotten for me anyway (112BVSS in 7mmMAG), and did the paper work for a couple of bux.
