Coming October 1st 2011 the UMAR (Ultimate Magnum AR) will be released to the public.

It will feature:
A 24” match grade bull barrel made from 416 stainless steel
Predator Rifle length Handguard
FIRSH (rail) mounted sling swivel
Gas Block with rail
ERGO Tactical deluxe pistol grip
A2 stock
Proprietary 5 round caliber specific magazine
Proprietary lower receiver
Twist Rates .22-250 REM (1x14) .223 WSSM (1x14) .243 WSSM (1x10) .25 WSSM (1x10) .300 OSSM (1x12)

This proprietary lower receiver design has an elongated magazine well to fit the larger 22-250 round as well as a .300 OSSM with a 168 grain bullet.

The top lower is a standard magazine well and the bottom is the UMAR Lower.

The UMAR lower receiver will accept MIL Spec upper receivers and standard magazines. The bolt catch hole has been threaded so you can easily change out the bolt catch when switching from a 22-250 or WSSM/OSSM to 5.56 NATO, 6.8 SPC, etc.

This will MSRP at $1428.70

It has been in the field for a few months with our sponsored hunter Dustin Butler of www.predatordown.com

First off, Welcome to Predator Masters!! Second, will they come dressed like the one in the photo with the Mag-Pul stock?

OOPS, just re-read the post, A-2 stock.

Gotta have one in .22-250. But I bet the weight will be around what a .308 AR is. Bet it is heavy. But who cares. It will be .22-250 thumbup

It will be no where near as heavy. Look at the pictures again. Look at the back of the magazine well and the bolt catch. This is exactly how I envisioned in getting a 22-250 to work in a AR-15 platform. I didn't have the resources to get it done, but I am sure glad that Olyarms has. I will be getting one...or three. Now, if I could incorporate that lower with my 6.5 Grendel also.....

I was just thinking the other day about how no one offered a 22-250 AR. Mighta just found my Christmas present.

Though I'd much rather see it with a skeleton stock vs. the A2. How customizable will these be?

My knee jerk reaction was also "why 1 in 14"? As I think about it however, the 22-250 and 55grn bullets are THE perfect combination. Aside from shooting 150lb+ game or at match ranges, there isn't need for more.

It's not a band wagon, it's a freight train. And for good reason. A 22-250 could be close to the perfect PD set up.

Yeah, check out the ballistics on that round. Opening up the lower to allow a longer OAL is going to help that round even more, too.

No, The mag well is to short and the round wont fit in it.

Quote:

The longer factory rounds should fit just fine. The shorter wssm rounds are already in use in some of our other models.

There are four Factory options offered that we don't consider accessories (Optics, Bipods, etc.).
Barrel Fluting
Ace Stock
CCM Trigger
Bipod Mount (BPM)

We tested the 1:10 and the MOA was not what we were hoping for. We are getting a more desirable result at the 1:14. We Offer the .223 WSSM in three different twists for your preference(1:14, 1:8, 1:10). However we only offer the 22-250 in 1:14.

Olympic,

So with this lower you could run alot longer COAL with our .243wssm for longer VLD bullets? Instead of modifiying mags.

I'm not sure you mean by modifying your mags, but with the designed mag for this lower you can have an overall max round length of 2.420".

Is Oly going to sell the lowers for these rifles? I have one of Mike's (Dtech) 243 WSSM uppers and would love to be able to load VLD's and not have to worry about squeezing them into the mag.

Yes! They will be available as either Stripped (which with this lower comes with the bolt catch) or as assembled. They will be available purchase come Oct 1 as well.

Wow too bad I just bought a 22-250 bolt gun a couple months ago and just recently got a 1911 so I'm going to pass on this one. I think I would get one in 243 (maybe), make it a long range shooter. But still looks and sounds pretty awesome!

It will accept any MIL SPEC Upper receiver, so the WSSM/OSSM uppers that are already available on the market will work on this lower. The Lower really is the key to this firearm not the upper. If you're looking for a 22-250 upper it won't work on any lower receiver other than this one. Being as this is the only lower the 22-250 can function on we have yet to determine a price for just a complete 22-250 upper receiver.

My question is I have a Colt AR Match grade 16 post ban but this top in 22-250 will not fit it right??? If so I guess I am going to have to sell some stuff to afford this baby!!!!!!! The 22-250 Remington COL is listed at 2.35"...So 2.42" should
give some room for seating long in a long throat. I would
be excited to see a 6mm International, too. This could
open some new doors for the AR-15.

i guess the question is what will the 6mm international do that the 6mm ar, 6mm dti, and 243 wssm will not.....but i still like it. seems to me like it would be very close to a 6xc without the expensive brass.

That is not only a sexy rifle, the 22-250 cartridge is making me drool. How come it took someone this long to do this?!?!?

What is the weight of this in 22-250? Of course as shown, minus optics.
Need one so the son can tag along.
And wait time on one ordered?
They just look WAY to NICE to pass up an AR so here I go !!

If I remember right the one in the picture weighs about 13.75 lbs. The stock model weighs in at approx 9.4 lbs and is 42.5" long.

Currently the wait time should be fairly short as we have been building up a stockpile of parts for these.

Just got quoted $206 for the stripped lower & bolt latch.

Mag's are seperate at about $100

Ouch! not sure If I should bite the bullet to shoot these VLD's or just build a custom bolt gun.

remember when dvd players first came out....the cheap ones were about $250, now you can get them for 30 bucks all day long. hopefully this will work about the same way; gots to recoup some of the R&D expense.

The main reason the magazines are currently so expensive is that they are billet magazines. We are working on having an extrusion made so it will reduce the price.

If you want a short barrel might as well get a .223 AR.

I told a friend of mine about these and he now has one. He has run a few mags thru it so far and he said it functioned perfectly. I will post up more info as I get it.

If you really have to have one, just have the barrel shortened and recrowned.

I want one in 6mm-250 with a 1:8 twist barrel that will handle the 107 grain bullets. Would make a great long range AR.

Interesting that results were not good with the faster twists. Possibly having to seat bullets to deep ?

1/14 twist would be a no go for me otherwise, I would want one.

I did like the 22 WSSM from Oly....shot very well and would handle the heavier bullets. I sold it, but it was a shooter.

Some day make it in the faster twist and you will have something. 1/14 is just to dam slow for good all around.

I love the idea but I won't lug a heavy barrel. Been there done that. Give me a light 22 inch barrel-lose the rails on the handguard and I will buy one tomorrow. I want to buy a light walking around calling rifle not buy something I have to modify.
Just my thoughts.

Just call in and tell the sales staff that is the configuration you would like. The current wait time is 2-4 weeks but this would extend that while we are waiting for the 22" barrel to be made.

I was interested in the 6/250 or 6mm international until some research revealed that the 6/250 has some case stretching issues. The ackley treatment fixes that, but then you are still left with a 243'esque neck which is pretty short for the long bullets and causes you to have to crowd your powder space. For the 80-90 gr bullets I would think it would do nicely though, but if I wanted to run the 107's i would look into the 6xc by david tubb. The 6xc has the shoulder pushed back a bit, and a 30 degree shoulder; though the straight wall may not lend itself to an auto loader very well. Ymmv, i have no first hand experience with either of these rounds, just what i have read....on the internet, so it must be true.

There are serveral different versions of the 6 INT out there. I think any of the VLD bullets would be very tough to make work, I personally looking at other cases like the 47mm lapua.

Got any other barrels other than the stainless? Or can it be powder coated to eliminate the shine.

What would be the price of one with a 22" Brl?

Is it the same or would it cost more?
