Please spread the word if you know anyone who is considering coming.

Please also understand I am making these changes specifically to keep this hunt as fair as possible for everyone. This is a COYOTE CALLING CONTEST ONLY!!!!!

Rule 6 will be completely changed to - Absolutely NO ATV of any kind allowed including all side by sides, quads, buggy, dirt bikes, or ANYTHING that could be considered an ATV. No running coyotes down with ANY vehicle.

Included in this rule - absolutely NO aerial hunting of any kind is allowed.

The only legal way in this hunt to kill a coyote is to either call one in and shoot during day or spotlight one and shoot it. No other way is allowed. NO exceptions.

No decoy dogs allowed.

New rule - all teams MUST have some sort of digital camera to take pictures with during the hunt. Cell phone cameras are allowed as long as they show a clear picture.

If you will not participate due to these rule changes then so be it. I am doing this in order to help keep this hunt as fair as possible.

Please let everyone you know who is considering hunting these rule changes.

Thank you

A friend of mine told me the winner of this won with a total of 21 coyotes.

Is that true? If so, WOW!!!!! If not, I'll have to set him straight.

What did 2nd take?

Thanks,

Results

1st Place 21 Coyotes

2nd Place 9 Coyotes

3rd Place 7 Coyotes

4th Place 5 Coyotes

Yes guys this was a high number for 1st place. Good for them. We had many cheating prevention methods in place and I truly believe they were within the rules placed on this hunt.

Think about this, at the World Hunt, Al Morris killed 18 coyotes in 2008 and that hunt was daylight hours only for a day and a half.

My hunt was almost 2 days straight, with night hunting allowed as it is legal in most counties in NV.

I can honestly say I personally could of had 14 coyotes during this hunt if I could learn to shoot straight....hahaha. So 21 doesn't seem out of the ordinary if a team is on their game. My partner and I only slept 1.5 hours Friday night and 2 hours Saturday night, and we were hunting the rest of the time. We were loaded up on extra fuel, food, and 5-Hour Energy!!!

These hunts are intense and I believe a little more tough than others due to the fact teams don't really get a break until its over. Teams that rest, are losing time that could be hunting. Teams had to use jaw locks a certain way, take photos immediately after kill, and phone in their kills at the half way point.

My partner and I put on 800 miles during the hunt. Other teams put on over 1000 miles.

You should come out next year. But please don't bash these guys they deserve better.

It seems I missed the banter...

Anyway, those are all amazing numbers. It seems I have a ton of work to do to see that many. I donít think Iíve seen 21 coyotes in a year but then again, I hunt only a few weekends.

Iím hitting the Round Mountain tourney this weekend. Weíll see what happens. I just donít want to get skunkedÖ

I was on one of the teams that got ZERO coyotes. Not from lack of trying. That's why it's called "hunting" and not "gathering."

I met the winners and they definitely seemed like stand up guys. And quite frankly I didn't enter the contest to win the prize only. Sure, two new rifles are awesome. I got to meet Motox and few others and I had a few good laughs at my expense. I learned exactly what I don't know in talking with these guys. Rance and the staff at Spurlock's were 1st class all the way.

I've shot 2 coyotes in two years. The winners were shooting 2 coyotes per stand - good on them.

Maybe next time.
