I know this subject has been beat to death and there is a ton of info on long range kill lights but I hate to have to search through all of it and sort through all the BS to find the good info,,,, so I thought I would just ask......

Is there a clone (cheaper Chinese copy) of the XLR 250 Kill Light??? I have two of the XLR 250's and love'em.... I've tried ordering two what I thought were clones (or close anyways) only to be disappointed both times....

Thanks in advance.....

..... Hmmmmm,,,, I'm really surprised that someone hasn't responded to this question by now.....

If there isn't a clone to the XLR 250 Kill light,,,, what is the closest light to it???

Which light color?
If it's white light, then there's lots of other choices.
If it is the red or green LED light, then the choices are fewer. The XLR250 Kill Light and the Sniper Hawg Lights Destroyer are good products with colored LED's and electronic LED drivers and reflectors tuned for maximum throw.
The clones don't drive the colored LED's as hard as the Kill Light or the Destroyer.

.... Thanks for your reply.....

Okay,,,,, what/which are the "white light" clones and which are the red-light clones....

I can get by without another red or green XLR 250 Kill Light since I already have one of each of these.... Which one of the Chinese imports most closely mimics the white XLR 250 Kill Light???

A g4 and some gel paper will set you back about $20 and work awesome. Not saying they are better than the Kill Light, just a whole lot cheaper.

Thank you for your reply....

.... Okay,,,, a "G4" is what I need.... I don't need any of the "gel paper",,,, white is just fine!!!! Now exactly where do I get this "G4" that is a close copy of the XLR 250????

When I Google "G4" I come up with all kinds of non related stuff....

I read that thread also. They sell them at Gadgetown, just google it, it is posted in those 24 pages somewhere. Lots of reading in there I'm telling you.
The Red Dagger is a good light also at $49. and is a red led with a tight beam.
If you want to shoot way out, pack a battery and buy a Light Force.
If you get the gel paper amber is the yellow, I put in purple it did work well but the yellow is far better.

There are several white LED lights that can provide excellent performance. These include:
The Dereelight DBS with XR-E LED, bin R2, smooth reflector:

ThruNite Catapult flashlight
Solarforce Masterpiece Pro 1 with XR-E LED and smooth reflector

Then screw this head assembly on that host:

More mah mean longer run time. If you scan with it I'd go for the 3000, if your gonna use it as a shooting light 2400's are fine.

The Ultrafire brand battery capacities are overrated by the manufacturer (according to several user tests). Most likely you'll be lucky to really get 2400 mAh from the one rated at 3000.

The CandlePower forum experts regard the AW brand batteries as the best 18650 batteries (but they are expensive). AW batteries perform well in very high output flashlight applications requiring high amperage loads. For the XLR250, G4, Destroyer lights, any brand 18650 batteries will perform adequately since current draw is less than 2000 mA. Personally, I use the Trustfire Chinese brand since they are cheap and have more "real" capacity than the Ultrafire brand.

Sniper Hawg Lights used to sell the unprotected Trustfire brand, until they were able to put their logo on the batteries (probably the same battery).

I didn't see the G4 on lighthound's website unless I missed it somewhere. I'll probably just get the batteries from Gadgetown so I don't have to order from multiple sources

You're stressing too much over the batteries, buy a few extra and don't worry about it. I run the 3000 in my headlamps and the 2400 in my shooting lights. But like pacecar said the mah claims are probably inflated. Just have spares and change them when you notice a decline. The red 3000 Ultrafires from Gadgettown do fit tight in my G4 though.
