Does anybody have any load data for this bullet and powder combination for .223? My hornady reloading manual gives no loading data using Varget. Does that mean I shouldnt use this powder with this bullet? I was going to buy some bullets that I could use for both .223 and my 22-250.

Get some 50 or 55 grain bullets and if my memory serves me the data is on the varget jug.

Now 40s I shoot out of the 222.

for the 40 grn bullet a the max load with Varget is 28.0 grains. The max for 50 and 55 grn bullets is 27.5 grain with a mv around 3380 fps. All the loads will be compressed.

I'm sure a buddy of mine will post, but he has had pretty good luck with that combo in his SPS Varmint 22-250. Runs around 4100 fps toward the higher end of the powder charge. (Not quite sure his exact grains) but I know he likes it. I'd say go for it.

Well here's that buddy. I've used 39.5gr varget and it was 4184fps and I reduced the load and now using 38gr of varget.

Think he is looking for .223 My Serria book shows, 25.7 for 3100 fps through 26.9 for 3300 fps, using 40 gr bullets and Varget.

You can get quite a bit more speed with Benchmark or H335 powders, Varget works better on heavier bullets.

Here are some 223 Remington Maximum loads for 40 gr bullets out of my Nosler Reloading Guide 5th edition.

Benchmark 28.0 gr MAX 3860 fps with a 40 gr bullet

H335 27.5 gr MAX 3681 fps with a 40 gr bullet

Varget 27.0 gr MAX 3383 fps with a 40 gr bullet

Varget is too slow for this light weight bullet.

N-133 is what you are looking for with a thick cup primer, chomp on 3800-4000 fps depending on the rifle with bug hole accuracy.

Benchmark and H 322 would be a good choices also.

N-133 is simply spectacular with 40-50g bullet weights.

I was just asking about .223, I have 22-250 data for this bullet.
Thanks guys for the responses.

I use 25.5gr. under the 40 V-Max in Bolt guns.
Very accurate, under .75 MOA and better.
I have not tried it in my AR's yet
