same set up as this past turkey season, mossy 12 gauge JH choke 660 dia and no 4 buckshot at 40 yards on a 4 ft by 4ft paper.

not happy AT ALL with this pattern,

also we have the same gun and choke with the 2 3/4 00 buckshot load by federal.
at 30 yds and 40 yds. i shot the same paper twice so i had to draw a blue line seperating both group hits, The load on the right is at 30 yds with no 2 and the one on the way left is at 40! notice how far it got pushed to the left at only 10 yards farther.

do you think i am over choked?

You cannot test buckshot patterns with one shot. Buckshot is so erratic that you need three or four shots on one sheet of paper to evaluate it.

And distance does not push the pattern over left or anywhere else.

My Mossberg 835 patterns great with a Carlson's DC Choke (don't know the constriction) and #4 buck. I also achieved good patterns using my Rhino Turkey Choke (.695).

im picking up a 675 undertaker High density choke in the morning!~ i will see how that throws some federal No 2 buckshot as i wait for my no 4's to arrive. If they do not pattern well i may try the winchester HD coyote loads, The federal heavyweight are out of the question for now.

ok, picked up the ported high-density .675 undertaker choke today and also picked up some winchester 3' magnum 00 buckshot "15 pellets" and was pretty amazed at what they did at 35 and 40 yards!
here is some pics i think i have some more experimenting to do but i cannot see why this wouldnt be a good coyote load out of this choke at 35 40 yards.

4ft by 4ft paper with a 2 inch circle as a poa,
35 yards

I'm looking at the 00 Buck "coyote pattern." I don't even consider turkey loads for coyotes any more.

I wasn't going to use the turkey load for anything other than turkey, I was just seeing how the nitro turkey load patterned in a new choke.

i still cant wait to see how the 4 buck goes!

Why are you even bothering testing 00 buckshot? You really dont think you need anything that large to kill " an old hound dog" do you?

The larger the pellet size the worse ( or at least a lot more difficult) it is to try and keep or get a tight pattern.

BTW: .660 diameter isnt a "choke"....its a "JOKE". With a standard bore of .729....".660" isnt choking it..its STRANGLING the shot.
