40gr. Berger hpbt over 29gr. of BLC-(2) in .204

I saw a load listed for 29-30 gr. BLC-2 with 40gr.V-Max should this also, be safe with the Berger 40gr. hpbt? I've loaded about 10 rounds but wanted to check with someone more knowledgeable than I before firing any of the rounds. Thanks!

You don't indicate where you saw this load listed....Never take any load you get off the internet, unless it comes straight from the powder manufacturer...

Use legitimate Published Load Data and work up slowly from a lower level and watch for the normal pressure signs...

Very few people are willing to risk firearms, and more importantly, their personal body parts on someone else's word that something is a good load... Be Safe...

Here is where I got the info but, maybe I should go ahead and pull the bullets. Thanks!

You probably won't have to pull them. Fire one and check the brass. Hodgdon Powder gives a starting load of 28.0 of BLC 2 with a max load of 30gr. This is with the Hornady 40gr. VMax.

My COAL is 2.263" forgot to mention.

I would fire it in my rifle. Every rifle is different, but mine would show to much pressure with that load. It prefers loads close to max.
Oh, and your welcome.
I took that starting and max load from the Hodgdon loading data site.

Berger's load data for their 40 grain bullet and BLC2 is starting at 24.5 grains and max at 27.1 grains. FYI

If I pull the bullets with my Hornady lock n load cam puller will the necks be too big to press new bullets in after removing a little powder? Thanks very much for saving me from a possible bad screw up.

Should the necks still be tight enough to hold new bullets now or will I have to replace the brass and primers too? Thanks!

Well, I already asked this question.

sorry!

I shoot berger 40's out of my cz527 varmit with a 26" barrel with 30gr of BLC2. Ihad to use Federal match primers and worked up to that load. It is near max in my rifle. Velocity was only around 3800 but accuracy was very good.

This was in the email I received from Walt at Berger. Thought I'd share for all the help you folks have given me.
