+1 Both of my 250's are burning benchmark with good results with 50gr. NBT's and 52gr. matchking hpbt's!!

I typically stay away from ball powders, in fact I won't even look at em. I have had great success with XMR 4064 and RL 15. Never could get the Varget to group with any bullet.

This load is smoking, 36gr R10x, 52gr A-max. Not sure what your twist is but I found most 250's have longer twists and prefer a little lighter (shorter) bullet.

I developed this load for a friend's M77, 3990fps 21"bbl

37-39gr H414/W760 with magnum rifle primers. works for my 22-250 rem 788. Looking in my log 39gr with the sierra sp flat base is shootin 5 shot groups in .600" at 3600fps

I just bought my first 22-250...Remington , I am shooting 50 grain Hornady v-max factory loads...They are knocking football size holes in the coyotes I shoot , I have not gotten into reloading yet , what can a guy do to make this gun more fur friendly ? I tried Remington core loc factory loads but they were all over the paper , very inacurate , any suggestions would be greatly appericated. Thanks

I like the 40 gr vmax over a stiff charge of vv 133, Not many exit holes, never had a "splash" ,works great for me.oops, I screwed up, I thought I was commenting on 223. My bad.

I have had the best results with Win 760 in a couple different 22-250s. Varget works really well also. My pet load for my ole Savage 116 FVSS is 40.5 gr of Win 760, Nosler 55 gr BT, Win LR primers. Its bugholes even with my crappy shooting. I like H380 BUT i found that when the ambient temp gets up over 80* the pressures go up......flattens the primers a little even when backing down a grain or 2.

A new load for me that I just shot yesterday is as follows;
Hornady 55gr SP, Win brass, 35.3grns of XBR 8208, 2.067" COL w/Hornady C.O.L. gauge which is .02" off the lands of my Tikka T3 light, and no crimp. At 3651fps I shot .521" 3 shot group, but I am still in devolpment stages. Depending onhow krazy I want to get though I might be done.

I have seen the same thing as what WI3Der mention above, when using the 55 Vmax.

I am a huge proponent that each rifle is different and what one takes maybe another won't. I have two 22-250s (Tikka T3 SS, Savage 12BVSS). I have a reloading cabinet that has about 7 different powders that I have tried in these two rifles, but I must admit that I changed to a charge of RE15, Lapua Brass, CCIBR2 primers and 55gr Sierra GK for both of them and wow!

I get 3650fps and a 9 shot group into a 5/8" hole with the 22.75" Tikka.

I get bug holes at 3800fps with the Savage!!!

This performance was gained while achieving the same pressure signs as I was getting from Varget. No hard bolt lift or super flat primers. That surprised me. It just seems that RE15 is built for 22-250s.

I could back off a bit, but I figure that if I'm going to shoot a 22-250 it's because it hits real hard and flat. If I wanted to go a bit slower and do some round arm bowling then I'd have bought a 223.
