This is a longshot (no pun intended), but I'm looking for tips or suggestions for the Rochester late season goose hunt, which ends Jan. 2nd. The zone is a rectangle defined roughly by Stewartville/Pine Island/Plainview/Chatfield. My friend and I spent the afternoon driving around Olmsed County, looking for geese. We found one big flock in a field but the owner would not give us permission. Imagine that; geese finding sactuary in a safe field. Anyhoo, we are respectful hunters and no strangers to goose hunting (we've had success in the Lac qui Parle area.) We'd love to get one more chance at geese, so we're looking for any leads, tips, suggestions, phone numbers, napkin sketches . . . that a person in the know may have. Maybe there's a farmer who has geese in his field and has no ties to a guide. Sorry, we aren't interested in guided hunting at this time. Nothing against guides; we just prefer the DIY approach for our geese. ... yotes are a different story
