I would like to get a decent semi auto doesn't have o be a 3 1/2 inch but would be nice what should I look at?i would like to keep it around 500 or so but might consider spending a bit more if I have to.What about the mossberg 935 and the escort series of guns?

I have an escort 3 inch. I haven't had any problems with it. I bought it used about 3 months ago. It has shot every shell I've put through it.

I have not shot the 935 but have looked at it in the gun stores felt awful heavy to me. I do like the remingtons i myself would like to buy a charles daly for an all around gun. I also borrowed a mossberg 9400 auto and really liked it. Should have bought it from him.

Im in the same boat as you and believe im going to go with the 930. I dont want/need a 3 1/2 chamber as I believe 3" is good for anything ill do.

One right down the street if you wanna make the drive down dude.

if its still there after christmas then I will but I don't have the cash right now

I use a Browning Gold Hunter 3" for all my waterfowling.

Was my Trap gun for the 2 years I shot league and know I have at least 25,000 rounds through it. So far, other than an occasional thorough cleaning, I've never had to touch it.

Soft shooting and well made.

Haha took the words right outta my mouth thats what I plan on doing.

The 390 up the street for 500 is the way to go they are just a little bit heavy.

For more a winchester sx3 is the same gun as the gold and that is what I would get.

also check out the weatherby sa-08. It is in your price range comes with a warranty.Down side is it hasn't been around long but so far the few reviews I could find are positive. The upside is its lightweight if this is for predator or upland hunting.

another gun to consider but i'm sort of bias is the franchi 48 although it only comes in 2 3/4. A 12 would have to be used for around 400 check whittakers and gunbroker. When benelli purchased franchi they got rid of the 12 ga because it was too much competition for the ultralight.

cabelas i noticed has the winchester super x 2 on sale right now for 599. Its the cats meow for the money i shot one for a few years before putting it in safe after i bought a beretta extrema 2 which is also a very good reliable semi auto but out of your price range as you stated.

the browning golds are really heavy

and if I am not mistaken the brownings sx3s the franchis and maybe more are all made in the same plant!

I recently got the Beretta 390. I paid $529 on sale, so i'd take it for $499 right away. It's my first shotgun so I'm not an expert. But the obvious is:
*It shoots everything I've tried so far, no malfunctions.
*The reciever and barrel seam very nice.
*It comes with 3 chokes.

*The stock and forearm are somewhat cheap, but can be upgraded down the road with the newer/nicer stocks.
*It comes with a plastic buttplate. A perfect fitting Limbsaver buttpad for ~$34 fixed that.
*It comes with a gold or silver bead sight. I changed it right away for a fiber optic for cheap.

The majority of my shooting isn't with a shotgun. I bought it as a tool. I think the 390 is going to fill this role nicely.

The 390/3901/391 is a pretty stout base. I have probably close to 10,000 rounds through my 391 parallel target and its still running great. I use it for upland and clays.

I looked long and hard before buying my 930. I've tried low brass 2-3/4" all the way up to 3" turkey loads. All rounds cycled fine, Never had a jam with mine. I would go with the 930 for the price I don't think it can be beat.

I have not priced them lately but two years ago Dicks Sporting Goods had Remingtons on sale 1187`s for $600 plus there was a rebate for $100. Don`t know what sale price would be today but Remington is offering a $100.00 rebate now.If I see one on sale while the rebate offer is going I plan to get one myself. My older Winchester 1200 pump is in nice condition but...well gotta at least try to keep up with the jones`s,lol..buddies that offered me to go duck hunting all have the latest and greatest high dollar stuff.
