just got my new custom 280 back want to see if any one out there had any pet loads they would share. Was thinking about using reloader 19 or Imr 4350.With 140gr bullets.

I would like to have some info on this as well, am going to start reloading here soon and have a semi-custom .280. I have been using the Barnes TSX in the Federal Premium and I am not sure I will ever use a different bullet. I have had overwhelming results with that bullet(140gr) moving at about 3k

I have had good luck with Hornady 139gr BTSP in front of IMR 4350. I'm shooting it out of a T/C Pro Hunter and the hotter the load, the better it likes them.

I have been shooting the .280 Remington for about 25 years. My fav. load is 139gr. Hornady, 58gr. of H-4831. I have killed pigs, deer, antelope and black bear. When elk hunting I use a 140 gr. trophy bonded bearclaw using the same powder. I have taken 3 elk with that load.

I have a 7mm express remington 700 or 280 i bought new in 1980 or 1981 ive killed a tractor trailer load of stuff with it and shot every thing from 100gr bullets to 175gr and i like the 140s for deer the best. I used to shoot NBT but this year im going with the SST 139gr with IMR4350 i havent got my load done yet but it looks like it will be a shooting combination ive owned every caliber that there is and i think that the 280 is the best ive ever had my hands on.

Im getting good results with 51 grains IMR4831, cci250, and hornady 162 btsp right now. I just loaded some hotter loads of that same combo to see if the groups tighten at all. Also loaded some 139 sst's with some aa3100 to see if I can find a majic load with that combo. Im shooting a 22" mountain rifle. Im trying them out this weekend so Ill let ya know what happens!

I got the load out of the NOsler manual as the Most Accurate Powder and Load which was 58.5g of 7828 with a Rem 9 1/2 with a velocity of 2900 out of my 24" Barrel.

This bullet and load is one whale of a deer killing load, I never had a deer take a step after being shot from any angle.

My brother and dad shot a 7 Mag with a load of IMR 4831 with the 160g Sierra BTSP at the same velocity...I bet we have killed 200 deer with the 160g Sierra BTSP and the speed of 2900-2950 is magic out to 300 yards.

I have had really good luck with 48.5 gr of IMR4007SSC and 150gr NBT. I shoot a .280 AI and cloverleaf groups are the norm.

My .280(Ruger)prefers bullets from 150gr on up.So far I'm getting my tightest groups with IMR 4831 but I really haven't done much fine tuning with the powder charges yet.IMR 4350,RL19/22 and Varget all shoot pretty well.
