Whooped him good I thought! I especially loved the sick looks that I saw on Edwards face a couple times. I also thought that Edwards seemed kinda like that little chihuaha dog that people just keep kicking at while he's nipping your pant leg...

All I can say is that I hope President Bush follows Dick Cheney's and takes his gloves off!!

ABC had it 43% Cheney, 35% Edwards and 19%Tie.

CNN poll called it a Draw.

These people must not have been watching the same debate we were.

I thougth Cheney hammered him.

Cheney slammed Edwards to the mat.Whats with all the blinking edwards did, isnt that what liars and chicken**** bigmouths do?I enjoyed it immensely.I love the kerry/edwards plan, only thing is nobody knows what it is.

Cheny did a great job. Now GW needs to follow suit and hammer kerry in the next two debates. There are two things that the Republicans need to do. Actually one that they need to do and one that they should have done along time ago.

1. When attacked on the no bid contract to Haliburton simply point out that Haliburton is the only company that is capable of handling the job.

2. This is something that they should have done along time ago. They should have acknowleged that there are no WMDs in Iraq. Say that they had poor intelligence and the problem will be corrected so that this never happens again. Then point out all the good things that have happened since sadam is out of power.

These two things would take away some of the attacking points.

I think we all consider Cheney the winner because we know the facts and we know Cheney portrayed them and disputed the lies and propoganda that Edwards threw up... problem is, most Americans don't know those things when they see them and many americans like a pretty face. I don't forsee Cheney winning that debate in any polls this week, I think he did wonders for the campaign and will have a numbing affect to the climb Kerry was starting to make out of his slump. This weeks debate will still be somewhat important, Bush needs to try not to lose this upcoming debate any worse than he did the first one... if he can do that it will be much smoother waters until november. If somehow he bungles up this weeks debate WORSE than the previous one then we're on for a campaign again... then there is always that October surprise we've been waiting for! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Cheney kicked Edwards butt and didn't even work up a sweat doing it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nothing like a youngster trying to teach an old man new tricks........... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Actually, in a cursory look around the net this morning I've found that most of the polls have Cheney winning, anywhere from by a small bit to large margins. Only one so far is calling it a tie, I think that was CNN.

CBS is saying Edwards won, too. But then, CBS makes up their news /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think the general spin attempt will be to try saying that Cheney won, but it didn't help Bush.

Cheney loses CNN by a very slight margin (1%), he loses FoxNews by a wider margin (2%) and loses CBS by an even larger margin. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Then there is the local cbs newschannel that is reporting local viewers saw cheney lose the debate 76/23!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

In your opinion, who won the vice presidential debate between Dick Cheney and John Edwards?

Choice Votes Percentage of 76553 Votes

Vice President Dick Cheney 21201 28%

U.S. Sen. John Edwards 53624 70%

They tied 1728 2%

*Note: This is a national, unscientific poll.

Online polls are meaningless. People vote multiple times, etc. Unless there are mechanisms to prevent that, they're totally useless. Even if there is, they only reflect people attracted to that site.

Flip Flop!

U guys recall Channey doing this

"I will mention the one remark that Dick Cheney made that was so extraordinary at the beginning, where he denied ever drawing a parallel between 9/11 and Saddam. All of us, our jaws hit the table."

Ron Regan

Or have you guys forgotten him not 6 months ago trying to draw a direct relationship between Iraq and Osama?

Guess you guys are sort of like Bush you got selective memories.

Lets not forget Halliburton the point that Chenney masterfully dodged.

"Democrats noted afterward that Cheney was incorrect in saying he had never met Edwards before Tuesday night. Edwards’ campaign provided a transcript of a prayer breakfast in February 2001 at which Cheney began his remarks by acknowledging Edwards. The two men also met when Edwards escorted Republican Sen. Elizabeth Dole to her swearing-in by Cheney in January 2003, a meeting the Edwards campaign emphasized by distributing news articles about the ceremony."

It was a tatic use to put Edwards record on display. However, Missing 33 out of 36 Senate meetings is also unacceptable. However, so is not serving your term as an Air Force reservist for "insufficent time" to complete my duties. Thats what the document bearing George Bush signature said just some four days ago, nor is it as bad as taking the US to war for no reason. Guess you guys still wana argue that point!!

As far as the debate goes it I think was pretty close to a tie. But I must admit Chenney had possibly a slight better showing than did edwards. That being said I DONT Believe it will help George W much if any in fact Edwards did do a pretty good job of laying the ground work for the up comming debates a head. Stressing the economic inadeuacies in place as a result of the current administration.

KyCoyote Hunter, you must have missed my previous post so I will restate it for you. I will also add a few things for you to think about.

1. Haliburton is the only company capible of handeling the dutythat the contract called for. So what is the point of wasting time that they didn't have holding open bids when noone else can deliver?

2. I really don't care about any link between osama and sadam. They are both pieces of crap and need to be exterminated like you would a rabid dog.

3. Maby Cheney was mistaken that he had "never" met Edwards but it is of note that in 3 1/2 years as the senate president that they have only met twice and not while conducting senate business. If that's the best that the kerry campaign can come up with is that the met at a breakfast 3 years ago that's pretty pathetic.

4. I would prefer to have someone that did not fulfill his reserve obligation than someone that turned on his fellow troops and attacked them. kerry should have been recalled to active duty and prosicuted for deriliction of duty. Heck, I would prefer to have a draft dodger. At least with them you knew exactly where they stood and had the courage of their conviction to stand up for what they belived in. Not stabbing our military in the back.

5. Again I will refer you back to my previous post that you appear to have missed. There is a reason for the war in Iraq. No we did not find the WMDs that even the u.n. chief weapons inspector Hans Blix thought were there, but it must be nice as an Iraqi citizen to not have to worry about being shoved into a wood chopper of being forced to watch as your daughter is thrown off of a building.

6. You may recall a little bill about 5 years back called the North American Free Trade Agreement. This bill allows companys to build things in Mexico and bring them over to the United States tax free. So a company can close it's plant in the U.S. and start making the product in Mexico where the labor is alot cheeper and sell it for the same price here and pocket the difference. That had a huge impact on the American economy. And just in case you didn't know, this bill was signed by bill clinton.

7. I don't know how well you follow these things but the economy was heading down hill during the last year of the Klinton administration. Bush and Cheney took over as captians of a sinking ship and are managing to bail out some of the water.

8. Do you think that possibly the 9/11 attackes had a negitive impact of the economy? Or are you going to blame thoes on Bush too?

9. More Americans now own their own home than at any other time in history. I make about 2 dollars an hour more now than I did when Bush took office. So my economical situation has improved. I also see help wanted signs all over the place and thousands of help wanted adds in the news paper. So anyone that doesn't have a job doesn't want one very badly.

10. Part of the damage done to our economy was done by companies like Enron and Adelphia. Yes they were cought during the Bush administration but these acts were comited during the Klinton administration. Maby if janet reno hadn't been so busy snatching little kids and turning them over to communist governments or burning them alive she would have cought these people on her watch.

CHANNEY is one of the indicators that let us know when KY is typing for himself... everytime CHENEY pops up you know someone wiser is speaking! LOL!

This war on terror is interesting in the different view points of what this war on terror is all about.

Democrates:
The only terrorists worth fighting have to be DIRECTLY tied to the events of 9-11. Therefore Afganistan was a viable target because they harbored Osama. Essentially all others get a pass.

Republicans:
A terrorist is a terrorist. In the Islamic chain of terrorism ALL sects are in one way or another fair game. Since it is well proven that Saddam H. supported the families of the bombers in Isreal, he was a supporter of terrorism, therefore a terrorist. He has also given medical aid and supplies to terrorists, therefore he is a terrorist and fair game.

I suppose this beggs the question, "Why have we given other terrorists a pass." Well, have we really or are we waiting to clean up the situations we are in right now before extending further.

If it were up to me, I'd show absolutely no tolerance for any type of terrorism, in my book the IRA is just as bad as the Islamic terrorists and should be hunted down with equal enthusiasm. Then there is the Africa. My god, what the hell is going on there. Murder and slaughter is the entertainment of the day. Then there are the issues in Asia and Russia (not the nations but the terrorist problems). I suppose we can't be the police agency of the world, but somebody needs to do something and unless there is profit in it the United Nations is useless. The United Nations is no more valuable to the world than the League of Nations was. I am increasingly of the belief that the United Nations has out lived itself and should go away.
