How are Winchester Super-X .223 Hollowpoints (53 grain)?

About 12 years ago I scored a great deal on a case of Winchester Super-X .223 Rem. Hollowpoints. They have a 53 grain bullet that looks almost like a FMJ except for a tiny hollowpoint. They have been stored well and I want to start using them in my AR15 for groundhogs (and maybe a coyote if I am lucky) since I still have about 10 boxes left.

Is this a decent round for my Colt Match BAR Sporter with 1/7 twist barrel? I shot about 25 rounds tonight to check the zero on my scope, made a few clicks correction, could not dial it in any tighter than a best group of 7/8" @ 100 yards. Next best was 1.5". I think my stiff trigger was my biggest problem but thought I'd check with you guys to ensure my choice of ammo isn't also working against me. My gut says they are a little old but my trigger and unstable shooting rest are more to blame. Thoughts?
