Wanted 243AI load data

Partagas, I shot the 87's at 3550 with 45.5g of Win 760 with a CCI 250 primer, accuracy was .300 or a little less.

This was an absolute MAX load for my rifle, so I would start off at 43.5g and work up in your gun.

My rifle had a 1-12 twist, so the pressure will be a little higher in your rifle...take that into consideration also.

What was interesting was that there was much more copper in my barrel after shooting the 87's at 3550 than shooting the 70's at 3850. I rarely ever shot anything past 450, so I stuck with the 70's.

Good luck and let us know what you find out works well in your rifle.

Was there reason that you are using Large Mag primers (CCI 250)?
Or are you supposed to use Mag Primers with the 243AI?
I was under the impression to use just Large rifle primers not Magnums.

Partagas, I can't really remember. I think it was like 44.5gr. H414 and 3200. I had alright accuracy at 3500 but I was absolutely destroying coyotes so I backed off and had better accuracy with slightly less damage to coyotes. I think that load was 45.5-46gr. but I don't remember exactly. Work up to those loads though, the last one is on the hotter side for me.

Use the one that works best. Things aren't always what you'd think. I did some primer tests in my 243AI's.....

W760 powder, 70TNT - FIREFORMING
48.3.....210M=3790, SD=32.3 --- CCI250=3745/SD=9.3
48.6.....210M=3794, SD=37.8 --- CCI250=3767/SD=4.4
Same results when compared to Rem. 9-1/2 which produced even faster velocities. The 250 gave better accuracy but less velocity and consistent hugely lower SD. That's with this particular powder/lot and this bullet weight in this barrel/chamber.

In the 22-250AI and RL15 powder, Rem. 9-1/2 vs. CCI 250......250's are a bit more accurate.

You can't make assumptions about any of this stuff based on what "should" be.
