looking for somewhere to shoot prairie dogs.

Not to discourage you but a lot of guys have spent many hours, many miles and many dollars finding really good places to shoot. Giving up exactly locations probably isn't going to happen. Reword your request so as not to suggest you are persusing (trolling) for a shortcut. Plenty of guys can give you general directions to some really good spots but none are giving up directions to the gold mine.

The very best places to shoot pds only stay "the very best" by controlling the number of shooters that use them.

It's not that much farther away, but if you contact the Chamber of Commerce in Dickinson, ND, they will send you a complete package of the area, including Farmers and Ranchers that are open to shooting PDs....I got one a couple of years ago and was surprised at how much they were wanting visitors..

You will need to make the contacts (phone or mail) and see what is available and what the potential cost will be with each of them...but it's much better than going in blind and spending all day driving around...some of those places are big, some not so big...

Of course, the Chamber is trying to drum up business for the local motels and restaurants and PD shooting can be a 'cash crop' for farmers...

We have access to a 75,000 acre ranch in CO where the rancher charges us $25 per night, per person for use of his old house (really nice) and free run of the ranch,,,we just have to bring our own food and it sleeps seven..Who knows, you might get lucky too...
