Unlocking Remington J-Locks without the key?

Anybody know how to thwart the damnable remington j lock without the key?

I am about to order him a new shroud/firing pin unit for it......

After you do get it open, be gone with it. One of the worst ideas Remington has had.

Yeah i think im going with a callahan, i disassembled the bolt today and that is one ugly mother to look at. The term eyesore comes to mind.

How did you end up getting it unlocked? The paper clip worked easily......

A wart on a Remmy 700 bolt shroud that locks the action.........

I got rid of my J-Lock and the whole firing pin assembly and went with the GTR below. I love it! My 700 was cratering every primer, so I also had the bolt face bushed for a small diameter (.062) firing pin. The firing stock pin spring is also funky and drags on the bolt interior bore. Problems Solved.

Sadly it isnt unlocked, you can disassemble the bolt but still cant get to the lock, unless im an idiot and couldnt figure it out, im trying the paper clip idea now.

Stick the paperclip right in the middle of the "J". Make sure you don't snap it off.......

You could probably take it to a local sporting goods store. They would probably use the key out of another gun to open it for you. I bought a shotgun that was locked and sportsmans warehouse did it for me.

Sadly the only sporting goods store around is dicks and their name says it all when it comes to service thats what you get.

You didn't get it with the clip? I unlocked 2 inside of a minute yesterday. Stick it all the way deep and turn it. Be careful not to break the paperclip off.......

Turn it clock-wise until the red dot goes away and you see a white one..........

Maybe you should call Dick's and see if they have a key........

Dicks does not have a key, on mine the white dot is showing meaning its locked, red is open
