Starting to reload for a tikka 25-06 and I am looking for suggestions of where to start.
Powders I have on hand: h335, h4350, h4895, imr4350, imr3031, imr4320, accurate 3100, varget, benchmark, reloader 10 & 7, blc2
Thanks for your input.

I would start with the 4350's. My best powder in my 25-06 is H4831 and I hear lots of people like RL22. both are slower than the 4350's. I think that H335, H4895, IMR3031 Varget and RL10 are to fast, won't fill up the case well. I have never fooled with Accurate powder's or Benchmark.

What weight of bullet?? That would be helpfull.

25-06 uses a wide variety of powders very well, in my experience with 6 rifles, its not a picky cartridge at all. I've used everythign from H4895-Retumbo, literally every bullet weight and powder inbetween that with good to great results.

I've shot and loaded more 25-06 over the last 10 years then all my other cartridges combined.

For 75g vmax, I like IMR4350 or IMR4831, for 85g NBT's RL-19 is where its at, 100g nbt's, IMR4350, 4831, and Retumbo, a lot of people use RL22, but I could never get em to shoot better then 3/4-1 MOA, 115g nbts/VLD's and 125g Wildcat ULD's I like RL22 and Retumbo. With the above bullets/powder, I had no problems achieving consistent 1/2 MOA.

Enjoy the 25-06, its a superb 600 yard coyote/antelope/deer cartridge.

this site has lots of great loads as reported by shooters with their particular equipment.

Always check loads listed against a reloading manual just incase there is a type or an idiot shooting dangerous loads.

Good luck

I use Nosler and Berger bullets and have loade mostly with RL19 and RL22 and I have had excellent results. I have also used IMR4350 with good result with heavier bullets. I stopped using 4350 after using RL22

Bullets: 87 grain speer sp, Nosler 85 bt, 100 grn partition & 110 accubond, 117 hornady sst, sierra 100 & 117 btsp & 120 hp. I also want to try the hornady interbond but don't have any on hand yet.
Thanks for the replies. I was just hoping there might be a "nearly universal-good load" as there is in some calibers.

100 gr partitions and the 110 accubonds should be very accurate for most factory 25.06 rifles give it a stiff charge of retumbo 4350 4831 rl19 or 22 and you will have a shooter they are not that picky

4350 will work for 87gr. and lighter bullets. For 100-110 go with RL-22 and beyond that RL-25. The 25-06 is an overbore round and needs the slow powders to produce top performance.

Stick with the 100-110 range of bullets. They are in the 25-06's wheelhouse.

I only use heavy bullets in my 25-06; 115's to 120 grainers.
Powders that shoot are RL-22, H-4831SC, and 7828.
Accuracy from all of those powders is three shots into 1/2" groups at 100 yards. I do LOVE the Speer and Sierra 120 grain bullets. They shoot!!! Great BC's too.

I am only using heavier bullets and had better results in terms of accuracy with imr 4350. I also tried imr 4831 and R 22, which did ok, but 4350 beat them out by a bit.

25-06

Gun #1: Speer 87gr TNT / 56gr RL19 / Winchester LR Primers

Gun #2: Speer 87gr TNT / 56gr RL19 / Winchester LR Primers

Gun #3: Hornady 117gr SST / 48gr RL22 / Winchester MLR Primers

When that Speer 87gr TNT bullet hits them they are DRT. Not a pelt bullet.
