Sierra Blitzking

Looking for some knowledge on the Sierra Blitzking bullets. Not looking for one specific caliber. Just wondering how they perform? Do they tend to shoot good groups? How do they perform on Coyotes and such?

I have nothing but good to say about Blitzkings I have used the 39gr in my 204 40gr in my 222 223 and 220 swift as well as 55gr in the swift and have been very happy with them. In fact in my guns they are one of the most accurate bullets topped only maybe by Berger. Performance wise the 40gr in the 222 and 223 small entrance no exit DRT when I do my part. Just started hunting with the 39gr in 204 have shot 2 yotes so far and same deal. Try em you won't be dissapointed I am sure

I think I am gonna get a few of them and give them a shot in a couple of my 22 Caliber guns. I have heard some good things about them from others also.

From another thread

First I like a 50 gr over a 40 gr because it has a boat tail, handles the wind a little better.
I prefer a 50gr over a 55 gr because 50 is enough to get the job done cleanly with a little flatter trajectory.
I prefer by experience the 50 gr bullets in this order, with density & coefficient

Blitzking .142 .248
Remington Accutip .142 .242
Combined Tech Ball Silvertip .142 .238
Nosler Ballistic .142 .238
Hornady Vmax .142 .214

i have found the 50gr blitz to be my favorite .223 bullet. they are the most accurate bullet i have shot from my guns, and they seem to penetrate coyotes much better than my other favorite, 40gr nosler bts. the noslers are still my favorite for groundhogs, though.

I use the 50gr in my .223 and 55gr in .22-250. In the chest it's a one shot kill but, it turns them to mush on the inside. I have had one splash on a hip shot to a running dog but, it didn't go far. I noticed that it didn't break the bone but, did extinsive damage to all the mussel. The jacket is a little thin for bigger game, IMHO. It is my go-to for coyotes. I just wish I could get a cat with one.

I get tight uniform groups, I think, because of the high ballistic coeficient. I don't worry about bent exposed soft tips because of the polycarbonite tip, as with all the other brands.

I like 'em so much that after the first box of 100 x 50 gr .224 blitz kings were loaded and shot, I orderd a box of 500. I prefer to use them to turn varmints into grease stains, as opposed to coyotes, but they'd work fine on them as well. My brother uses the 39 gr on coyotes out of his .204 and they work very well, just gotta watch shot placement as they tend to splash on marginal shots.

It's been my experience that if you can't get a rifle to shoot with the appropriate Sierra bullet, better start looking hard at the rifle or scope.

+1 on BK's!

Just wish they made a 25gr. 17 caliber.

i've been loading the 70 gr blitz for a buddy in his .243 wssm. very accurate. if it exits a yote just a small hole. first full moon he shot 4 yotes, all drt.

The 55gr BK's were exceptionally accurate in my 22-250, but I was getting too many splashes on the surface with them on short range shots. On long range shots (200yds +) everything was DRT. So, I can't really give them a good recommendation for a coyote bullet, at least in a high velocity chambering like the 22-250 or faster. Out of a 223, they might be just fine. For varmints smaller than coyotes, they're tough to beat. But, I think they're just a little too lightly constructed, too frangible for reliable performance on coyotes, in my experience.

I've switched over to the Sierra 65gr SBT's and I think I've found nirvana. I think it's the perfect coyote bullet in the 22-250. Despite the warning on the box for twist rates of 8 or faster, they fly just fine out of my 12 twist Savage.

Yes, very much so. I've never taken a coyote with one, but did drop a nice 5x4 with them out of my 22-250. They shot very accurately, and I would use them in a heartbeat on coyote, and close shots on deer, as in within 150 yards or less.

The BlitzKings in 50/55 gr are very accurate to in my 223's. Like wise with the 55 gr. hp.in the same rifles. Now if they would just make a .224 60gr. BlitzKing a 90/100 gr. BlitzKing in 6.5mm and a 125 gr BlitzKing in 30 cal. I would be happy.
