Lets Talk Snowshoes!..

Unless they're treated aluminum snowshoes will sometimes have snow sticking to them and building up making it hard to walk which is tough enough to do on snowshoes, anyway. You need to be in good physical shape to spend much time on a pair of snowshoes. At first there is pain involved.

Another decision you need to make is what kind of snowshoes you want. Bear Paws, trail shoes, etc. Each kind is made for a specific purpose. When I lived in SE Alaska I had a pair of trail shoes for work. The frame was birch and the webbing was made of moose skin. I also had a military issue set of bear paws which were a nightmare to use. They were a wooden frame with canvas webbing and a total PITA. I tried using them for grouse hunting in the early Spring but gave up on them in short order.
