Is any one loading 62 gr.points in the 22-250 ? If so how do they work and do you have a recipe I can us as a starting point ?

Well if this helps, I can give ya loads from the Sierra manual for 60 gr, 63 gr, 65 gr, but no 62. You're gonna have to give us a little more info like what kinda of powder do you plan to work with cause the manual lists 18 - 19 different powders. The velocities for all those loads range from 3000 - 3600 fps and the 65 gr bullet requires a 1 x 10" barrel twist.

Thanks for asking . I will use either N-140 or H-380. Shooting it in a Rem. 700 with a 1x14 twist. I have found, as you said loads for 60 , 63 ,& 65.

Your target will look like a Buck shot pattern at best if you don't have bullets key hole. Your rifling will not stabilize that weight of bullet.

pdhunter,
You did the same exact thing I did. I wanted to shoot 60 gr. in my 700 22-250 and tried every load I could come up with.
Wouldn't group less than 4 inches at 100 yds. gave up and traded the second box of 60 gr. for same box of 50 gr. which I have a good load for in that gun. Can't remember who it was now but abpout 3 months ago. He mailed me his and I mailed him mine/ Even up.

Glad to see these other guys could help you more especially since they have the same shootin piece you do. Just for info, mine is a Ruger Target 22-250 (same barrel twist as your's) and my best loads are with 52 gr bullets.

The area I hunt in California we have to shoot lead free bullets. The 22-250 owners across the U.S.A. better do everything they can to keep shooting lead bullets. The 50 grain and heavier Barnes lead free bullets will not shoot in the 22-250's worth a darn because of the slow barrel twist rates. A 50 grain copper bullet is about as long as a 60 grain lead bullet. The 36 gr Varmint Grenade shoots good in the 22-250. The way I look at it if you have to shoot a 36 grain bullet, it is not a good old 22-250 anymore. Hopefully some of the rifle manufacturers will start putting out some 22-250's with faster twist rates. The 62 grain Barnes TSX bullets don't shoot very good in my Tikka 1-8 twist or my RRA Predator Pursuit 1-8 twist rifles.

I'm shooting a remington 788 22-250. 64gr winchester power points, cci 250 primers, 38gr h414, ww brass.. this load shoots 1" groups and has for many years.

Per Sierra tech folks, the Sierra 60-63 grain bullets are "supposed" to shoot well in a 22/250 1x12 twist with a long enough length (24") to allow the bullet to get to speed i.e. RPMs to spin accurately...

With a 1X14 I guess yours won't stabilize them....

Your post reply implies you have not tried these 63 Sierras yet; why not load 5-10 and shoot them for a trial?
