So my birthday is on Sunday and I have only convinced my wife to go out coyote hunting one time with me 4 years ago. We called nothing in after 3 stands she was bored. She has not accepted my invitations since to go. She was asking me what I wanted for my birthday and I told her I wanted her to go yote hunting with me and she accepted. I hope we call 5-6 stands and can call in several dogs so she can feel the rush, that should help the chances of her going again. I think I am going to arm her with a shotgun and some buck shot for the close ones. I am so dang excited about this that I probably won't sleep at all tonight.

Cross your fingers for me, yeah.

Thanks fellas for the interest. To my dismay it did not turn out as hoped. I hate the full moon and blame it soly for the poor day.

First light this morning we caught on out in a field and we qietly got out of the car behind a berm and closed the distance to 176 lasered. I shot the first round and it did 2 death spins and started out across the field. I had te AR in .204 so I let the lead fly and on the 3rd shot it rolled up at the other edge of the field and then got up again. I could see in my scope that it was running slow and only using 3 legs so my second hit was a little low as it was probably about 300 or so out. Long story short we left to let it calm down for an hour or so so it may lay down and die.

We called 2 dry stands and the 3rd one was ruined by a guy road hunting for something who drove right down the middle of our stand and literally 15 feet from the fox pro. So I decided to have a little fun with the guy and the wife and I were rolling afterwords. Right as he drove by I turned on the rabbit in distress and he slams on the breaks and is looking around. I did not know he had a dog with him but his dog jumps up in the bed of the truck and is frothing at the mouth trying to figure out what is going on. I realize soe of you may not find this funny but my wife and I had a great laugh together.

Last stand I told the wife to hold tight while I walked down 35 yards to put out the fox pro and I left my rifle sitting next to her and wouldn't you know it a dog jumped up 10 feet from me in the brush and ran off. SOOOO PISSED.

That was the day in a nut shell. For the record we never found the firts dog as it rained a little bit and we never found any blood in the dirt field.

Al least you got your better half to go out with you. thats more than I have ever got!

Hopefully the good laughter and times hunting together will only get better. It's always nice to have the wife along on hunts.

Might consider a bigger gun, LOL. ed

Keep at it CW; she will probably decide your having to much fun chasing those 'yotes and want to be a full time partner in it - mine did.

Edited to add: Although I haven't convinced my better half that coyote hunting is fun, she does enjoy shooting with me from time to time, and really enjoys duck hunting with me a couple times a year.

Well happy B-Day back at ya wishin. She has been out shooting a couple of times with me and does shoot well when she does shoot considering she grew up never touching a gun and had only pulled the trigger maybe 25 times in the 9 years we have been married she shot a 3 inch group at 100 yards sitting up with some shooting sticks. I was proud of her.
