Go to the "Research" bar. Scroll down to "Confirmations" in the midwest. Click, on the dots in Iowa...specifically central Iowa.

Check out this quote.

"Dr. Maurice Hornocker, a prominent cougar expert, was recently quoted as saying, "There may now be more mountain lions in the West than there were before European settlement."

It is no wonder to us at least the thinking us that is why our deer numbers and elk ect are down in many areas.

Well being retired, now. I'll be able to hunt any day I want. I expect to be hunting most everyday, from harvest to Spring/[pre-planting time].

I believe as of 2yrs ago. Two cougars were in my area. Mainly holding to the river & bluff area's. Haven't heard of any being killed by vehicle or hunter. So I expect them to still be around in my county.

There is a boatload of deer in this county as well[mostly along the river basin]. I suspect that is what, is mainly keeping them here. Their time is running out. Time is all I have now.

Kirby,

I expect pictures! smile

If you are half as good at sneaking up on them as you are on coyotes, I'd imagine you'll have both of them before spring.

Blaze the trail Kirby. The only thing between me and retirement is $$. I'd make a good retiree - hunt, fish, shoot, repeat. Stinking work gets in the way of everything!

Kirby I would doubt that you have established cats living in your area. Your getting those that pass on through. Nomdaic wondering.

ADCcoyote, who knows for sure? All I know is of the many continous reports over the last 5-6yrs or so. Hard for me to grasp. Reason for all of those sightings are just rare "pass throughs" Pr of older lion tracks I came upon last Winter. Tracks were only a 1-2 days old.

As I'm now retired. I will be hunting longer & harder than I ever have. Most every day, I figure. I know my County quite well. As I've hunted most all of it over the yrs. I have high hopes for this season, moreso than ever. All I have now is time, we'll see.
