Does the Nosler Reloading book list charge weights for .223 60 gr. Partitions and H4895. I have Nosler reloading guide number four and it doesn’t list 60 gr. Partitions.Hodgdon recommends a charge weight of 24-26C for 60 GR. HDY V-MAX. If you have any other insight or experience on this combo let me know. Thanks!

Ken

Nosler #5 lists following H4895 loads for 60 gr. part.:

23.5 gr 2950 fps
24.5 gr 3080 fps
MAX. 25.5 gr 3219 fps *

IMR 4895:
23.5 gr 2860 fps
24.5 gr 2980 fps
Max. 25.5 gr 3131 fps *

*most accurate load

Thanks HM! This will give me a good starting reference. I wasn’t surprised to see Nosler on the low end of the Hodgdon guide. I have a son that’s very thin and weighs about seventy pounds wet and he made it clear this year that he wants to shoot a deer all by himself and not just pull the trigger on one. I was hoping he was going to get a little bigger so he could shoot a bigger caliber but it doesn’t look like its going to happen. We are going to try the 60 gr Partitions.
Thanks,
Ken

I have culled several does and a 200# hog w/the 60 gr. NP's while doing some ADC work with excellent bullet performance; all animals dropped in their tracks. Having said that, I took special care in placing the bullet on each occasion.

Your son should be fine but give him plenty of trigger time and coach him on shot placement. Good hunting!

nosler #6 is same as #5....in addition,if you're using military cases (5.56x45 NATO) #6 shows for 60 grn competition hpbt....
IMR4895 : start load=21.5 / max=23.5 with 22.5 being most accurate....
H4895=start load=22.0 / max =24.0 with 22.0 being most accurate.
