107gr loads for .243?

Just a few questions, what twist rate is desired for these bigger bullets or recommended to get the most accuracy out of them?
Is there a middle of the road twist rate to shoot anything from 55gr up to the 107's without much compromise in accuracy?

Is there a significant advantage to the 107's over the 100's?

Lastly, any recommendation for a particular load that has worked for you using the 107's?

I can only offer my thoughts, but I doubt it.

107 grains is getting a little heavy in a 6mm IMO. I've shot a lot of critters with 100 grain bullets from a .243, and they work pretty well. The only heavier bullets I've seen were round nosed, and I think they lose more than they gain for longer range shooting.

YMMV, of course.

I would use at least a 1:8.5" twist for the 105-107s, but you would be better off with a 8 twist. The 105s-115s are have quite a bit better B.C than anything lighter. The 95 VLDs and 95 Matchkings are the closest ones I think. You could probably get by with a 1-9 or 1-10 with the 95gr. bullets. I just got done testing 2 loads with the 107s. 46.2 and 46.4 grains of IMR4831 seated .010" off the lands. Accuracy was 1"-1.5" at 200 yards. The 46.4 load had an ES of 35 and the 46.2 load had an ES of 12. I'm shooting the 46.2gr. load again tonight when there is no wind or mirage.

i have a stevens 110 that shoots 6" groups with 100 grain remington coreloks at 100 yards. i dropped down to 85 grain bullets and i can shoot 3/4-1" groups. iirc it has a 1-12 twist.

The 105 amax's shoot well out of my savage with a 1 in 9 1/4 twist(26 in barrel) I worked up to a load 39 grains of IMR 4350 and I am getting just under 3000 fps. For fun I shot some 100 grain corelokts at a 900 yard target that I was dialed in for with the amax. The corelokts left the barrel at aprox 100 fps faster than the amaxs but hit well below the target. Through the scope it looked like they hit 30 feet in front and 15 feet downwind from the target. That shows what a bullet with a high BC can do. I have heard that the data for the 107 match kings is similar to the 105 amax. Ideally you should have a faster twist, but if it shoots, it shoots. Always work up from the beginning powder charge in the books.

1 in 8, try to get muzzle velocity around 3000 fps and your good out to 1000 yards. Other bullets to look at other than the 107 smk, is the 105 amaxm, and 115 dtac.

Warpig, I worked up a load for the 95gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips, in my Remmy 788 and it shoots awesome! Clover leafs at 50yrd. and under 3/4" at 100yrd.
I seated my bullet at .050 thousandths off the lands (magazine clearance won't allow any longer C.O.A.L.)
with 36gr. of Varget.
My 788 has a 1:9 twist. I know that your rifle has a different twist rate, but all you can do is load a few and try them. Mine won't stabilize any bullet smaller than a 65gr. but anywhere between there and up to the 95gr. it does real well. I haven't personally tried the 105's or 107's yet, 100gr. factory loads yes, it shoots well.

Just a little advise, be sure to confirm powder weights with the books, not by what others tell ya! Not doubting anyone, just be safe!

i would try the 95 gr berger vld they work very well out of me 243 with a factory barrel.I use h 4350 with a win primer.
