Well i have a 243 on the way and am wondering what powders are kinda all around in terms of velocity and accuracy. With bullet ranges fron 58 to 95 grains. I have benchmark and varget on hand now.

Thanks in Advance

My Model 7 Predator loves Varget and 75gr. Sierra HP. 36.5 grains pushes it to 3300fps and it shoots in the 4s at 100.

I have great luck with Benchmark and Varget and H4895. I seem to like Benchmark the best simply because it meters well and is very accurate. 40gr b-mark and 70gr matchking or gamekings

I would be VERY Careful using 40grs Benchmark with the 70gr Pill's, I started out a lot lower than that and had a pierced primer with 39.5grs of Benchmark with pressure sign's before that. with lack of any sign's of accuracy, Just my 2 cents, Try the Varget or get some IMR 4064 or 4350 you will be much Happier.....

I have had great luck in several 243's with 46-47g of IMR 4350 with Win primers with the 70g Noslers and 43.0g of the same powder with the 95's. The Rems and Rugers that I shot these loads in were extremely accurate with the Win primer.

Work up to these loads, your barrel may be tighter than mine.

I would add my vote to the IMR-4350. I've used a lot of 4064 and it works fine for me with the lighter bullets but for anything heavier than 80 grains I get better results with the 4350.

I'm running 105's w/R-22. (243AI)

I'm running 75 Vmax's at 3400 in my 22" 243 with Varget, but I'm making the switch to R-15 here shortly. I poked a few loads of R-15 through the chrony and it looks like I'll net the same speeds with about a grain less powder. I'm about out of Varget but I do have 30# of '15 so it's an easy decision for me to have to make.

I've been running 70gr nblt with 44.5gr of imr 4831. Shhot great out of my r-25 and my remington 700 classic. I've tried 3031 and 4064 but they didn't like those powders as much as the 4831.

Over the years I've shot hundreds of 60 to 70 grain bullets over IMR4064 with good results. Recentally I've tried some IMR4007SSC with good results too. My .243 is a 35 year old stock, sporter Remy 700ADL and it still throws them in at well under an inch, even with just a 3-9X scope. The last couple of years I've been using 65 and 68 grain Berger match bullets and some of the 68 grain Bart's Ultras. They both shoot very good.
