I bought a Model 1 upper locally and the guy did not have the bolt/carrier group. I need to know if I can use the bolt out of my bushmaster until I find one to use. I have heard the headspace will be off and I also heared that if the barrel is mated to the upper receiver it is headspaced.Thankd in advance for your help!

It should be ok, BUT, you should have it checked with some go no go gauges.

Your current bolt will work fine unless there is an awful amount of wear (which is doubtful). Your last question is confusing... all barrels are mated to the upper and will fall into the proper headspace dimensions.

you can get a military field chamber gage, if you feel uneasy. Best $20 i ever spent.
i have checked all my AR's with it (7 of them) with all the bolts in all the different uppers and they were all fine
have fun Todd

Thanks for the post, I started feeling a little uneasy about firing the upper with my Bushmaster bolt. My bolt is clean and not had a lot of wear.
