I think the 17AH and the 20gr VMax were made for each other. I also use the AA1680. That is all I shoot in mine for woodchucks and everything else besides fox. I can only imagine it would be perfect for prairie dogs. I haven't had the opportunity to get out for any prairie dogs yet. The 25gr HP's loaded down to about 3000fps are fox loads. A pin hole in and no exit, even up close. The 20gr VMax moving at 3800fps can cause some damage with the up close fox.
