22-250 and IMR 4831

Was wondering if anyone has any loads for a 55gr nosler ballistic tip and IMR 4831? Can't find a starting and maximum load anywhere. Only for 70-80gr bullets. If anyone can give me an idea of a starting load even it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Try changing to a faster powder. 4831 is a bit slow for the .22-250 and will probably not get optimum velocities. That is the reason you can't find data for the 55, only for the heavies which need a slower burn rate.

IMR 4064, Varget, H380, and powders in that speed range are all better choices.

I shoots the 55Gr Bal tip in both my 22-250 and my 220 Swift. In 250 my load is 36 Gr of IMR 4895 Velocity is 3600
fps Fed match primer. This Sako shoots in the low .200s
I'm thinking that IMR 4831 might be a tad to slow for the 22-250 Grizz.

RL 15 was made for the 22-250 imo, its by far the best powder I have used for 50-55grn bullets, velocity is extremely fast, in fact I know of nothing that will beat it speed wise, its temp stable and accurate, I can't ask for more
