Hey guys I need some info on a load for a Sierra 65gr SBT bullet number 1395 loaded with H335 powder. My manual lists bullet #1370 at 63 grs. I bought these at the Sierra factory today thinking I had this bullet listed, I guess its new. My manual lists 25.6 grs. H335 for a velocity of 2950 for the lighter 63 gr bullet out of an AR-15. How much can I increase the powder on the heavieer bullet to get the same velocity? This is the highest speed listed for this powder/bullet combination so I guess its the max?
Thanks

I like the 65 gr Sierra SPBT with 23.5 grains of Benchmark. It chronographs an even 3000 fps from my 24 in RRA AR-15. The Benchmark is less temp sensitive, and more accurate in my AR, but may not be in yours.

My best Sierra 65 gr SPBT load is: 5 shot groups around .50
23.5 grains of Benchmark
CCI BR-4 primer
Uniformed Win or LC Brass
COAL 2.260

The Hodgdon data shows a max charge of 24 grains of H335 with the Sierra 69 gr HPBT @ 2960 fps. It's usually safe to use the load data for a slightly heavier bullet as a starting point to develop your own loads. I would back of to 23.5 grains of H335 and work up to a max around 24.4 grains for the 65 grain Sierra. If you don't have a 24 in barrel you will loose some velocity.

Jim,
Thanks for the info, I'll load up a few and see how they work. Thats the 2nd time Iv'e heard that about H335 being temp. sensitive. Thats too bad, I thought I'd found a powder that would work well in both of my .223 rifles.

Kenny,
I'm runnin' a 25.2gr throw of '335 with the 65gr Gamekings and getting ~2940fps from my 20" Dtech rifle with .5-.75moa accuracy...

That load is right from Sierra's manual listed as "most accurate"...
