for those of you that sell hides

what are all the steps you take? I have always just skinned salted and stretched but I get some ugly looks when I bring them in and worst of all very bottom dollar so what do you guys do i have never fleshed just as good as I can with a knife so some one please help thanks

The buyer is probably frowning on the salt.

I usually just skin, freeze, and thaw before I take them in. Raw coyotes are next to worthless here.
 
Once you have one skinned out, you have to flesh it, which amounts to getting any large pieces of meat or fat off. Leave the thin membrane along the back) After that there is two ways to go, one is wash the hide in in little soap and water, then a again with a little Woolite, let dry then put on a stretcher. Other way is put on the stretcher with out the wash. You want the leather out till it starts to feel dry, then turn the fur and put on the stretcher with the fur out and leave till dry. You can put a little borax on the under side of the front legs and around the ears to help drying (fur out).
