I wish Newt would have run for pres. Everytime I see him interveiwed he seems to have great common sense and lots of brains. Anybody think he will give it a go some day?

Nope. He's a fairly notorious adulterer.
That's OK if you're a Democrat candidate, but the Republican base will reject a candidate on that basis.
I'd like to put a knot on his head for that stuff because, like you, I think he is otherwise a brilliant and highly articulate spokesman for the Conservative point of view and in all but personal moral aspects would make a great president.
McCain is also a serial adulterer, BTW, and didn't have base support until he added Sarah to the ticket and SHE, not him, has the loyalty of the wacko base...ie people like me, lol! He slipped into the nomination through something of a fluke and the lack of a strong Conservative candidate once Thompson's campaign fizzled.
I have to be honest, as much as I can't stand the guy's policies and Marxist political philosophy, Obama's record as a family man is far, far superior to McCain's. Truth's the truth, sorry.

Damm! Well, I think after an obama election the next republican running will be a shoe in. As soon as the smoke clears out of the heads of his supporters they will see the light, hopefully!

I like Newt also, infact I like him a bunch more than McAmnesty. It saddens me to know that whoever gets elected, we are going to have a liberal in the whitehouse. Or should I say a socialist.
I really don't want to vote this November, 'cause I can't stand the thought of either of the nominees getting elected.
Who are the GOP going to pick next election, Joe Lieberman? I guess he could change parties again and become a RINO like most the others.

I sure understand your sentiments, but remember: McCain is more likely than not to nominate decent SCOTUS justices. THAT fact will insure you keep your 2d Amendment rights. While McCain does have several serious blemishes on his gun record, Sarah is an A+ and we KNOW Obama will appoint anti-gun, anti-hunting, pro-environmentalist wacko SCOTUS justices--this is a given. Remember, Biden is also a documented gun grabber: He authored the Clinton Gun Ban nightmare.
I urge you to do what I am dong, holding my nose and voting for McCain. I also really like Sarah being 'just a heartbeat away from the presidency,' as the liberal press continually reminds us.
