8mm Video to Web Question

My video camera is an old (20years?) Sony that uses 8mm tapes. Is there a way for me to load my videos to the Internet? Are there tutorials on how to do it? Thanks for any information and tips.

Weasel, you need to convert the analog 8mm tape to digital video. Some digital 8mm camcorders can do this for you. Some digital camcorders also have a A-D (Analog to Digital) conversion they can do onboard. Here is some info on the different types of scenerios.

http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/ is also a great reference site for video info. The site has a lot of pro shooters there but plenty of us newbies too. Good luck.

The cheap fast Weasel would be if you have a friend with a digital camcorder that has analog input (S video). You can play your 8mm camcorder tapes into their digital cam to convert the video to digital. Then from there you can use a firewire card they probably already have to input the video to a computer for editing. Then upload to the Internet.

I copied a bunch of 8mm footage to my digital camera by hooking up the 8mm camera to the RCA input on my DVD player and output to my digital camera. Play and record. From there, firewire to the computer, like other digital content. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

This stuff is pretty much over my pointy little head. I have a friend with a digital camera that might help me out. If so, I'll get some video up this year. Thanks for the help, guys!
