Hunters AR 15/AR 10 Brass Catcher/Deflector in 5 Colors

Hunters AR 15/AR 10 Brass Catcher/Deflector in 5 Colors - 02/28/12 07:24 PM

I have some of these available right now. I am offering them for $12 each shipped in the CONUS. Payment can be made by USPS or Pay Pal. They are available in the ACU camo, Digital Desert (Unavailable, Cant find material), Multicam, Woodland camo, Black and now Kryptek Mandrake

I have seen the question come up numerous times asking about a brass catcher that would work for hunting. I made some of these and handed about 8 of them out at the PM hunt for people to test. The feed back was good on them. The brass will either be caught in the bag or fall at your feet. This makes it easy to find that expensive brass. These are made of Cordura material.

I built these to be small and hold one or two pieces of brass. They are designed to catch/deflect the brass while you are on a stand. If you shoot an AR in any caliber but 223 you know how expensive the brass is. Nobody likes to lose it. I have had it catch as many as 13 pieces of brass and hold them.

I am being told that this is also working on the AR 10. It was tested by Wilydawg on his 243. He has made a comment in this ad that it works for his and was catching 5 out of 5 pieces.

First two pictures shows the colors.

Pictures 3 and 4 show it covering the ejection port. The ejection port cover is put into the bag to help hold it in place. The first round will kick it away from the door and then help hold it in place to catch the others. The 5th photo shows how it is hooked around the back side of the scope. You need to make sure it is all the way forward against the hand guard as shown.

This picture shows the opening. This is where the ejection port cover goes in.

I used one of these at the PM Egg Shoot to catch my expensive Lapua brass. Worked like a champ! Steal of a price on these, to boot.

So do they catch more or deflect more?? Also do they melt?

Like the idea quick and easy to get on and off.

Mark has a winner here. I have been using one since the pm hunt. I have not lost one piece of brass since I have been using it..

They catch more but not if you do not install it right. It needs to be under the door or the velcro attached. It is designed to catch the one or two pieces you shoot on a stand. I went to the range today with my 223 and the 6.5 Grendal. I was shooting 5 shot groups. It was catching all 5 rounds most the time. It caught about 80% of my brass. The others dropped straight down. I would say that 95% of the time it caught the first and second round when I put it under the door.

Re: Hunters Brass Catcher/Deflector - 03/05/13 01:43 PM

I have been desperately looking for a high quality brass catcher that will work with a side charging AR because I was tired of losing my 6.8 brass!!. I also wanted something that was small and compact because I use my ARs for hunting.

I found the perfect catcher.

reb8600 makes a FANTASTIC catcher which fills all of my requirements. It is compact and extremely well designed. It is ideal for hunting as it is made of thick material which will not catch or snag on all our nasty desert plants.

The design of the catcher allows it to sit perfectly over the side charging handle without interfering. Be it wonderful accident or ingenious design, the arch created by the pocket lifts the backing over the handle. In fact, you can't even tell it is a side-charger with it on.

Because it is laid across the top, it also does not inhibit charging. A simple reach under the catcher for for easy access to the handle. It falls right back into place after charging. I added a small magnet to the pouch and a strip to the magwell to hold the catcher from flopping around while shouldering on hikes. This add-on is not needed, but I thought I could improve it(I didn't).

The only thing that I think would make it better is a more stout strap. But that is just me. Nothing wrong with the current one, just a preference thing.

I know he didn't design it for a side-charger, but in truth, I don't know that a better one could be designed. I find no faults with it.

If you need a catcher for a side-charger( or ANY ar for that matter!) I HIGHLY recommend that you get a hold of reb8600.

Great guy and a tremendous product.

Re: Hunters Brass Catcher/Deflector - 03/10/13 11:46 AM

As a field report update -

Reb sent me a larger version of his brass catcher for testing on my larger AR-10 platform. I also have the original version designed for the smaller AR-15.

After trying both of them on this rifle (Remington R-25 in .243) my recommendation to reb was to simplify and sell the original version for both platforms!

The original smaller unit seemed a much better fit and outperformed the larger one hands down. I was able to fire multiple 5 round groups without a single empty hitting the ground or bouncing back into the action.

There was some trouble with 8-9 rounds in the catcher at once, likely due to the sheer volume the larger .243 brass takes up in the pouch. This is a total non-issue for me as the catcher was never really designed for capturing large amounts of brass, and I would rarely if ever fire more than 2-3 rounds in a hunting situation anyway.

AR-10 owners, buy with confidence!

wily

Re: Hunters Brass Catcher/Deflector - 09/14/14 05:16 PM

I got one of these for my new AR. I got to the range 2 weeks ago & finally got to try it out.

All I wanted to do with the rifle was get it on paper & then zeroed at 100 yards. I shot 3 rounds at a time, it caught 2 & knocked the 3rd down, so it didn't go far.

Today I got back to the range.

Went to do the JB paste breakin on the rifle.

5 rounds, it caught 4.

Clean, then 10 rounds. It caught all 10.

Clean then 20 rounds. I loaded 2 10 rounds mags. It caught all 10 rounds each (emptied between mags).

Seems to work better the more it gets used wink

One of mine is dedicated to my mini-14 ranch rifle. It catches most of my brass and knocks the rest down so they land at my feet. I highly recommend them.

I also like using them off the bench, I'm sure my friends prefer me to use them too! Now they don't get pelted with brass, and they don't have to help pick up anymore.

Bought a few of these and finally had an opportunity to try 2 of them out this weekend. One is

attached to an AR15 the other to an AR10 .243 and they worked great on both. Shot 100 rds from

each rifle and this was the first time I recovered every piece of brass that I started with.

These will definitely pay for themselves over time. Thanks again Mark.

I am not familiar with the BCA. If the handle is going to be under the catcher then I doubt it will work

Re: Hunters Brass Catcher/Deflector - 07/28/20 05:58 PM

I bought one of these at the PM Hunt a couple years ago and stashed it in the truck because I didn't have the AR with me. Well during the move it got misplaced, I was putting stuff from boxes onto shelves in the shop and low and behold the brass catcher appeared.

I went to the range today and it is perfect, so light and unobtrusive that you don't know it's there and it works, never had a piece of brass hit the ground until I dumped a bag full of hot brass into to my hand.

Thanks Reb

I need to order another for my grandson (age 27)
