A very weary quarry. I use to shoot a bunch of them but then I realized I like shooting coyotes better. Get rid of the food, get rid of the coyotes. Still fun blasting them though.

Jump to new posts Re: Brass ejection pattern with side charging upper..... no deflector by steve garrett @ 45 minutes 5 seconds ago

a moving charging handle makes running a brass catcher impossible. I think it also means weakening the upper because more metal has to be taken out. what reason are you wanting a side charger for?

First Nevada Jack with a 4” Ruger SS using a 148gr HBWC 38 special load. Super easy on the ears and flat hammered this guy at around 40 yards. Lots of fun going after these guys with a revolver while hiking.

I've been told, so don't shoot the messenger, that when the companies do these loads, its in a climate controlled room, actions in a vice, and its what ever the load shot that day. Your guess is as good as mine but I do know that the Superformance am

Bear aren’t any harder to kill than a whitetail. I like faster better than slower caliber. A 30-06 is perfect, how about a Ruger American? Not a big fan of plastic magazines but the rifle is accurate. I believe the sportsman’s guide has 270’s for $2

If it's deep and fluffy try and find areas that are easier for coyote to travel. If it is deep and crusty find areas that will hold pheasants, quail and rabbits. Juniper thickets, Russian Olive thickets, cattail marshes. I hunt them on skis, it ma

Yes I like it and not sure I would go to the 6.5 PRC. Will depend on the mood at the time.

Yes I understand the deflector is why they end up where they do but without having one on the side charge Im assuming they'll be in a different place when properly gassed. I'm just curious if anybody's tuned on that. My friend has a 6 x 6. 8 that is

Not if you don't have a shell deflector. It's the shell deflector that bounces them forward. A normal pattern is about 4-5 o'clock out about 5-10 feet, with an undergassed gun at about 3 o'clock and dropping almost straight down or within a couple
