17 Remington load

Getting ready to load some 17 Remington. That being said what’s your favorite load? Going to shoot p-dogs and some early season song dogs later on.

Thanks John

Good around load Hornady 25 gr hp, Rem 7.5 primer, W760/H414. I use it for 25-30gr bullets. BLC2 works good with 20 gr bullets. What twist does your barrel have ? The 25 gr vmax will probably need a 1/9" twist rifling, as will the 30 gr bullets. I played with Staball 6.5, great velocity, but builds pressure fast you will need careful load development. I won't use the vmax bullet for coyote. IMR 8208 looks interesting, but I haven't tried it.

My .17 caliber is not a .17 Remington, but it’s pretty close. I use a .17 Tactical and my favorite bullets are either the 27 grain or 30 grain Kindler gold running 4000 fps or a 25 grain Berger match running 4100 fps. That’s for Coyotes and Bobcats……

My load for the 17 Remington is Remington 7.5 primers, 23.6 grains of IMR4320 and a 25 grain Hornady Hp. Once that powder runs out I’ll start trying something new.

Oh and my loads for the .17 Tactical are 24 grains RL-15 for the 30’s, 24.2 grains of RL-15 for the 27’s, and 24.5 grains RL-15 for the 25’s…… using Lapua brass and CCI BR4 primers…..
