Ken Holtz
Ken Holtz/Dogboy
I'm 52, married, have a lovely wife and daughter. Have lived in the high desert of Southern California for the last 11 years.
I am recently retired from a lenghty and challenging career in law enforcement.
I will always honor, respect and defend the principles of that challenging career. I will always remember my brothers and sisters who have died in the line of duty protecting others. Gob Bless them and their families.
I also served in the U.S. Army from 1972-1977.
I will always remember and honor those who have died serving our country. God Bless them and their families.
I have been around firearms and reloading all my life. I have shot competativly in small bore competition in ROTC and service rifle with the Oregon Army National Guard. I missed a great opportunity in 1975 to shoot on the US Army pistol team.
I love to hunt upland birds, have done some big game hunting, but for the last 11 years my passion has and will remain predator hunting.
Even the exciting times being a street cop, still does not compare to watching that coyote coming to the call. The rush stays the same, no matter how long you have been calling or how many you've called in.
After moving to the high desert and building a home where pretty much no one was around me, I became hooked to this challenging sport after calling and killing over 30 coyotes
the first year within a mile of my home.
Packs of coyotes were common, calling 3 or more coyotes on one stand were the norm.
I shot my first bobcat just down the street from my house.
My first electronic caller was the Johnny Stewart JS512. It was a couple years later after my first PM hunt in Globe that I tried hand calling and found that very rewarding.
Despite California being one of the most controversial states to live in, with their anti guns laws and less than popular politics, there is still some excellent hunting country and a great poplulation of predators.
I must give Predator Masters a lot of credit for what I have learned, from the many members who post their stories and experiences on this website.
I am now honored to have been selected to moderate on this very popular website with some outstanding peers and members, who also share the same passion as I do.
Keep the wind in your face and the sun at your back.
